Any info on Mitsubishi L200 pickup

Hi

We are thinking about getting an L200 Mitsubishi pickup, any info on this vehicle would be appreciated, good or bad, what are the insurance costs like and we have also seen something about the commercial tax consession removal from £500 in 2004 budget rising to £3000 in 2007, would this effect us a private buyer for personal use.

My mate has a L200 animal. Great for towing has caravan, other than that, totally useless. Drinks fuel like its going out of fashion, back seats very small, load area at the back nowhere near as big as as his old hilux pickup and parking is a nightmare.

Oh, forget to say. It is well built and very reliable. My mate had a hell of a job getting one, they do seem very popular at the moment but as said above, i dont think this will last. The tax can only go up as well. Finally, the saying goes, the darker the side windows the bigger the twit behind them!

they have very old fashion suspension hence the choppy ride :)

my mates got one as well and they pretty much indestructible, what i will say though the top speed on the motorway is around 90MPH and that is ragging the nuts off it, plus as someone has already pointed out they drink fuel like its going out of fashion :)

i had one for 8 months and gave it back to my work, i really couldnt afford to run it (1).

the window regulator broke 3 times, power steering broke on the motorway and it wasnt exactly great at starting 1st time either.

it would top out about 95 on the motorway but the turbo would kick in just after 70 in 5th so the fuel economy went way down, also you cant really go round tight corners over 30 without the back end sliding out.

oh and trust me parking is an absolute nightmare, the length combined with poor rear visibility and a really bad turning circle mean most multistory carparks and tight spaces are out.

i mean the cost of petrol was £30-50 a week even after my company had paid me their mileage allowance, oh and i was doing well over 350miles a month.
