View Full Version : Free phone unlocking
This guy is offering free software to unlock tons of mobile phones so you can use someone elses simcard in your phone, my daughters Nokia 3310 was unlocked in seconds and saved me £10 that the guy at my local market wanted. There's also loads of free ringtones on his site too.

Nice to see there are still some decent people about that aren't trying to get every penny out of us

Hi there! I'm trying to do this at the moment, but just wondered, does anyone have any idea what DCT3 code is?!?! :-[

17-06-2004, 1:22 PM
not sure but when I used this unlocking site found via the search engine on martins site http:unlockme.co.uk/
they just asked for the IMEI number and what network it was on. they then can back with code and how to insert it. hope that helps.

jellybabe,
DCT3 is simply a NOKIA handset which uses a certain algorithym to calculate/create the lock code. The newer models ae DCT4 and require a differnet algorithym. It seems that the newer ones are easier to unlock without cables.
I have been trying to unlock a DCT3 phone without a cable. I have entered the LOCK1 code correctly, but there is a LOCK2 code which all my attempts, via various on/offline calculators, have been incorrect. It is still restricted to the original network.
I think that the only way to unlock these, if the code calculator doesn't work, is via a data cable which are quite cheap and full instructions are available at the unlockme site.
Excellent find Sally, thank you !!!!
I have a Nokia 5210 which I just unlocked with the karlsquizzes program. I didn't know if I had a DCT 2/3/4 phone, or whatever, but the program tells you, and gave me the unlock codes and told me how to enter them. Easy peasy !!
I've now got an O2 card to work in the phone and have 300 texts free every month...saved me a fortune. I mailed the guy who's site it is just to say thank you for taking the trouble. I'm so chuffed, I even sent him 50p via paypal, and that's not like me, hehe.
Now I just have to work out how to get some of this guys ringtones to work on my phone and I'm a happy man !!!!

Hi,
I have one of the free Orange Avon pay as you go phones. When I got it I asked if I could put my existing Orange SIM card in it as I wanted to use two numbers. The chap in the shop said I couldnt as this would automatically invalidate it.
I'd also like to unlock it so I can use other SIMS.
Does anyone know what will happen if I do unlock it and put a different SIM card in - can Orange possibly monitor what I do with the phone and cause it to stop functioning if I do this? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am from Barcelona and know nothing about mobiles...! Grateful for any tips!
Thanks
There is a really good site - which gives out the dual unlock codes for the Nokia phones - you have to register but that is no hassle really - I have successfully unlocked a Nokia Dct 3 phone using this site. :)
the url is
http://nokiafree.org/
Give it a try - but do be warned that if you enter the codes too many times you will render the phone unusable!!! ???

@ cebolla ~ you only get 5 attemps so if you have entered mroe than five codes you need cable. If you havent, let me know and ill work out code for you.
@ travel_freak ~ yes you can put your old orange sim in the phone, wont affect the phone anyway.
And if you unlock it there is nothing orange can do as you own the phone, and they wont do nothing about it, so you'll be fine.

Is there any way I can make my 3g sim work on a non-3g phone... I don't care about anything else except the calls.???????
Spikey
No that isnt possible AFAIK. 3 will block your SIm if you try and send you a new one IIRC
Beware nokiafree.org BTW, their automatic code generator is generating incorrect #1 DCT 4 and has been for a while.
Use the forum at www.unlockme.co.uk instead
I use www.Free-PCHelp.co.uk
They have a link to DCT3 codes which saves you having to buy a data cable.

Hello Cebolla,
This is the best one that I have come across
http://www.trycktill.com/eng/nokiamobiledct3.asp
It gives you Nokia DCT3 codes, including LOCK 2 codes. In fact, it goes up to LOCK 4, but I dont know why you would need that.
I have succesfully unlocked quite a few phones with this
Good luck ;)

I am on pay-as-you-go T mobile. Once I unlock my phone, can I use any other payg provider on my existing number? ???Any advice is appreciated!
terrierlady
19-06-2004, 12:54 PM
I think you have to port your pact? number across to the new provider. you get the code from your server T mobile.not the same code you used to unlock it!
if you buy another sim card for the new chosen provider it will come with a new number.
Im sure that one of the other will explain the correct terms.
I recently tried to port my number from BT to Vodaphone, when I bought a new phone but didn't want to change numbers - BT gave me the pac code free of charge but Vodaphone said it didn't work - I gave up in the end and just changed numbers.
Just tried to unlock my sons Nokia 3510i with Karlsquizzes program but didn't manage it ???

Many thanks for your reply - only just spotted it as I had forgotten which board I had posted my query on! That's great news - especially as someone has posted news of some free Orange payg sim cards with free texts. Thanks again!

If your nokia is a dect3 use the uniquephones link as that was the only one that I could get to work. I tried it three times with unlockme and although the phone was telling me it was unlocked, it wasn't.
I then went to uniquephones and the first code they gave me worked just fine!

IS IT NOT TRUE THAT O2 PHONES ARE ALREADY UNLOCKED TO ANY NETWORK OR IS IT MONTHLY CONTRACT RATHER THAN PAYG
ukkarl
01-07-2004, 11:14 PM
Most contract phones will be unlocked - as you are tied into a contract to use their service, they don't care which phone you use. The exception to this seems to be T-Mobile, who have started to lock their contract phones.
Pay-as-you-go phones are different, the network supplier usually subsidises the cost of the phone, therefore, they don't want you putting another providers sim in the phone they have subsidised, and so these are always locked... it's these PAYG phones that need unlocked if you use any other suppliers sim..
Hope that helps
:)
most phones bought direct from the networks (whichever it is) are locked to that network, however if you have bought your phone from a third party, i.e p4u or carphone warehouse, these phones are generally unlocked for use on any network. A sure way to tell, if when you buy the phone the networks logo is on the box, it's locked. if its not its generally not. hope this helps

I have a great knowledge of mobile unlocking and gladly offer help and advice on unlocking handsets as well as codes.
Although there isnt to many handsets that can be unlocked using the same code and these codes are usually held by the service provider.
Although all nokias are unlockeable and many samsung also by a code which is easily generated.
Also purchasing a data cable will unlock nearly 80% of all phones with the correct software.
Hope to help some ppl out in the future

msdl28712
13-12-2004, 3:52 PM
The sony P900 can only be unlocked by special hardware or purchasing a log of the internet which will require a data cable.
So either contact your local mobile/market stall shop to see if they can do it.
Or if youve got the cable purchase a log of the internet (if you wanna go log way give me a shout)

Once again the sagem will require a data cable to unlock. Information is required to be read of the phone via the cable its the only !way.
If youve got the cable a program called "astu" can be used to read the required fields once read then i can generate a code to unlock the phone. you can also temp unlock with astu while i generate the code.
If you got the cable i can point you direct to the prog

This is for nokia codes only
!!!FIRST REMOVE SIM CARD!!!
Type #, then *-key 3 times (you get p),
then *-key 4 times (you get w),
then *-key 2 times (you get +),
then the 15 digits,
then *-key 2 times (you get +), then lock digit, #
Codes used for UK will be either 1,5,7
7 is usually the recommended code although 1 and 5 may be the code dependand on handset.
You get 5 attempts to enter codes once youve exhausted your 5 attemps the phone can only be unlocked be specialised unlocking kit. So try the 3 then ask here for help
Before you enter the final # of the code recheck the code.
If your not sure what options for the handset is check the type of phone

Nearly all phones can be unlocked sadly not many via codes 99.9% of nokias can be.
Most samsungs can be.
Sadly most need data cables to acheive the process. There is software to unlock sharp models which can be found. But this process isnt always the cheapest as cable can be expensive or a slight modification is required on the cable.
Most mobiles cost roughly between 10-15 pounds to unlock via a third party and sometimes the safest way to go. Which is still a bargain if you have a sim which you will make saving ie the o2 free text and wap sims.
Recently brough a nec e616v for £45 £30 hanset and £15 3 voucher as a backup phone incase the kids or my 6600 has a flat battery. Although i didnt pay for the unlocking of the handset (my local supplier and unlocker needed a motorola v300 flashing to the v600 to acheive the video playback so i did the flashing and he unlocked the phone). But even having to pay £40 to £45 in total hanset+unlocking is a good price for a handset, you can even recoup more of the money if you can flog the 3 sim on.

at one stage it wasnt wise to give out imei of certain mobiles but just to but ppl minds at rest nokia now use a otp chip to store the imei number (one time programable) so it can only be written to once and has been to store your current imei and cannot be rewritten.
Nokia 7600 can be unlocked they use the newer ASIC 7 calculation and so is the 6100

Hope this is in the right bit of the forum, as I'm a bit confused where to start!
Yesterday I asked in the O2 shop and in Carphone Warehouse about a cheap(ish) phone I can unlock to use a Sim4Travel (or other world sim) in. The O2 guy said he wasn't sure if the Nokia 2310 could be unlocked, and I should check . The Carphone Warehouse guy said it was sold already unlocked, but I can't return it, only exchange it, if this turns out to be rubbish advice! Any hints?
The following advice was given on this site, but I'm not sure if it means these phones can or can't be unlocked; they're described as unlockable, not as already unlocked.
"There are also now a new batch of unlockable phones coming out , the Nokia 2310, 2610, 1112 and some of the later 1600's all use a method of lock that we cannot do for free at this time. I suspect these again are only unlockable by contacting the Network that supplied the phone."
