Unfair Insurance

On saturday my wife was stationery at a roundabout and someone ran straight into the back of her :mad: . Completely not her fault so wouldnt cost us a penny or so we thought.

Her car is quite badly damaged needs a new bumper back door and paintwork also doesnt seem to drive well now so maybe some damage underneath, but we presumed his insurers would deal with everything.

I have spoken to my wifes insurers who say they will repair the car and claim the costs through his insurers however I will have to pay £250 excess towards this and it is up to me to try and get this back from his insurers? :eek:

£250 is not easy to find and it could take a while to even get it back but we need my wifes car repairing quickly to transport kids about.

Anyone any suggestions?

Most insurers require you to pay the excess even if its not your fault. However, if you have legal cover then your insurer will get the money back from other party's insurance.

If you don't have legal cover, then you'll have to fight to get that money yourself.

Do you have the other guys insurance details? If so you could contact them direct. My partner had someone drive in the back of her a few weeks back, and as the other guy admitted full liability they contacted her direct to organise repairs / hire car etc. My partners insurance co is aware, but have not had to do a thing, so no excess to pay etc.

ive had 3 non fault accidents, i made my insurance company aware of it but went through the other drivers insurance. i had an excess of about £500 and couldnt have afforded to pay that out to get it back months later. i just called them up after getting quotes and went from there. hope you get it sorted without any hassle :)
