Hey guys, any help you can give would be appreciated! Basically my OH and i moved in February, and have been completely disorganised! We haven't registered with a dentist, and now darling OH is complaining of severe toothache. It's making him feel really bad, he came home from work today and went straight to bed!

We are in Scotland, in Renfrewshire, and i've found a few dentists nearby to call (obviously it's too late now), but wondering if there's an issue of dentists not taking on NHS patients in Scotland?

Obviously it's more money-saving to go NHS, is there any way to find out which dentists will take on NHS patients in Scotland before i start ringing round tomorrow morning?

TIA :o

Hi,

I'm a dentist in West of Scotland. Lots of practices are now registering in the area but most won't give you an emergency appointment that day unless you are registered with them. You could try phoning a few first thing in the morning but your best bet would probably to get him to go to the emergency clinic at Glasgow Dental Hospitalon Sauchiehall St ( again, get there early). They see unregistered patients. They will only deal with his pain and then recommend you get registered with a dentist.

When you register at a practice they have an obligation to see you within 24hrs if you are suffering from severe pain, swelling or bleeding ( post extraction), although this may be at set times not a time to suit you.

Hope this helps and good luck!
