Hi all, just looking for some experience really.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and we have just been told that the breathlessness that my DH grandfather has been having for the last 6 months is because he has TB. I've had my BCG so not too worried about me getting it, but my DH hasn't. He's currently off work with a chest infection (very unusal for him to have anything like this).

We've since quite a bit of granddad in the last 6 months, so i'm a bit concerned in case my DH has picked this up. We have been told that we will all get screened for it, but does anyone know how they screen people. I thought it was by x-ray - which obviously I can't have as I'm pg.

How long does it take for the results to be known? What is the treatment if the screening is positive for my DH (and the rest of the family)? How long does the treatment take? and how long are you contacious for after it has been picked up as I'm concerned for our new baby when he/she arrives in a few weeks time.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or inappropriate, but I can't get into to speak to my doctor for a few days and I'm a bit worried.

Can you ring your midwife? Or can you ask for your GP to phone you? Or can you speak to the hospital where your GFIL has been diagnosed?

Other than that, you could look up TB on the netdoctor (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk) site. the good news is that I am sure TB is not as scary as it used to be!
