I have posted a few comments on this but I am so excited I want to shout it from the roof tops.
I used to suffer from hayfever that got so bad I could hardly function. I used to spend a fortune on tablets and drops.
Then I read about the medinose unit in the newspaper. It fires red light up your nose to stop the histamine being produced. I look a bit silly with probes up my nose but I really don't care.
I bought one off ebay a few weeks ago and I have not had one sniff since. If you are looking for money saving then this has got to be one of the best ever.
If you suffer from hayfever you have got to try it. Good luck

I am still a great believer in 'New Era' from boots, which is a herbal remedy. I had hay fever for years and these work a treat with no side effects whatsoever. Give them a go..

After reading the posts about antihistamines I came across the Medinose. I was dreading my hayfever symptoms starting as I suffer very badly every year. I ordered one from Chemist-4-U online at the special price of £54.99. It only took 2 days to arrive. Still expensive I know but WORTH EVERY PENNY! IT WORKS!! We call it Rudolph as it makes your nose light up like a beacon! If you suffer from HF though you won't care what you look like.
You have to use it 3 times every day though, try not to miss one out, or you may get a return of symptoms. This has made a huge difference to my life so I'm very grateful to whoever first mentioned it on MSE.

Hi
Has anyone else tried the Lloyds one?
Also does it stop your eyes swelling and itching too?
I've not heard of the medinose before, but it sounds fantastic!

Hi guys,
Just a quick note to say the Lloyd's medinose equivalent is likely to be almost as good, if not equal to the branded Medinose. £14.99 is an introductory price; on September 4 it'll revert to it's RRP of £59.99, so it's best to go sooner than later if you want one, although it's still advisable to phone and check for stock first.
I'm currently helping to put together a full article on Hayfever Cost Cutting, which should appear in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space...

My hayfever is cured - No more drugs
I would amend the title to 'My hayfever is under control - no more drugs!'..........your hayfever isn't cured because if you stop using the device, the hayfever symptoms start again.;)
That said, I was intrigued by the medinose device but cautious about parting with ~£80.
I'd like to say thank you to Js_Other_Half:A for telling us about the Lloyds pharmacy version.
I bought the Lloyds pharmacy 'Allergy Reliever' for £14.99 and I'm very impressed with the results.
Unlike earlier this week, I haven't had to take any Acrivastine. My nose has stopped running, I haven't been sneezing, I'm not surrounded by a mountain of soggy tissues and another benefit...........I'm not talking like I've got a cold because my nose isn't 'bunged up' any more.:j
Looking like Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (for 3 minutes per treatment session, 3-4 times per day) is a small price to pay.:o
As MSE Lawrence advises, the 'Allergy Reliever' is only on special offer at Lloyds pharmacy for a short while, so buy now while stocks last...............and before the price goes up to £59.99.;)
I hope it works for you too.
Regards
Nile

I got the Lloyds one, worth a £14.99 pop, if it works then all it will cost is replacement batteries once a month in summer. No tablets, no tissues,no extra valeting of the car from all the sneezing:rotfl:
Anything is worth it to stop the 'just beaten up look' my eyes have in full hayfever mode. I fI don't take something wuick enough then my eyelids are red and sometimes puffy too for the next two days.
I'll let you know how it goes.So far so good.

Just had to share my little story with someone ...
I have a new 'friend' (not a boyfriend, but you know what I mean!), anyway he came home with me for the first time last night ... and discovered he is majorly allergic to my cat!
Am going to invest in the Lloyds Allergy Reliever today, maybe I could let him try it (if he ever comes back again!), can't be any more of a passion killer than sneezing and constant itching!!!

Day 3 of no medication and my nose is absolutely no problem - my eyes have stopped streaming but do itch slightly. I am going to keep on with the allergy reliever and see how it goes. I couldn't imagine not taking anti-histamines in the middle of summer before this gadget.
This has got to be better than taking tablets and I'm actually feeling less drained because I'm getting a decent night's sleep - I recommend the £13.49 investment.

I'm a convert having bought the Lloyds one last weekend. I'm going to go and get one for my daughter today and get her going on it. I started using it last Saturday and haven't had any medication since, which is fantastic as I have had horrendous hayfever since I was two. Have to say I was very sceptical before I tried it.

Update- it's been over a week now, normally by this time in June my one a day hayfever would be running out on me by bedtime- it has been very rainy here, so less pollen, but so far so good...over a week and no tablets needed!:j
I'm only using it twice a day so far! So if need be I can increase the 'dose'
Does the Lloyds version have a method of showing how long you've used it for? Sound or Lights maybe? What type of batteries does the Lloyds version use? I'm going to let some people i know know about it especially at the crazy price.
I have a Medinose device which i bought for £50 - i don't think it's as effective with other allergies - specifically talking about house dust mites - although maybe i need to use it longer considering i've suffered with allergic rhinitis for so long. I did notice though that when i started thinking it wasn't working and i stopped using it i did get really bad allergy symptoms, i.e tons of tissues, runny nose, head blocked etc - so only got back to it a few days ago and i've seem to have gotten better :D I still can't fully breathe through both nostrils due to inflamation from allergic reactions, but maybe that can change - in the past i've had to use corticosteroids to fix that issue - it feels like heaven when i have both nostrils open but unfortunately after a week those sprays lose effectiveness as you become resistant so have to take a break which is annoying.
Anyone else suffer from allergies to house dust mites/allergic rhinitis? If so, and you have one of these products, how has it helped you if at all?
Any clever electronics people here? The medinose uses PP3/9 volt batteries - would it be ok to use a 9 volt power adaptor plugged into a wall socket so that i don't have to buy batteries - or would that damage the device?

thanks everyone for taking the time to let us all know how good this is from relieving hayfever. :)
Just got one of these from Lloyds today !They have leaflets/vouchers in store that you can pick up giving 10% off any electrical purchase .So using the 10 % off we only paid £13.49........... BARGAIN !

I had the sneezing issue as well, but after a few uses it kind of went away. Sometimes still get the odd sneeze, but i've found breathing a little on the nostril inserts (the way you do on a mirror for example to write something on it :D ) in order to get some vapour on it so it's slightly wet makes it easier to slide in, and once in the vapour kind of dries out so the inserts don't slip out.

Hi,
I have had hay fever since very young, and its always peaks at right about now beginning of June. I know a lot of people now days have some hay fever symptoms; it seems to be al too easily diagnosed by anyone in a chemist trying to sell you “Anti Histamines” of one brand or another. I have tried all of this medication and it’s the biggest waste of money going, not only me another guy in my office who suffers badly has had the same experience.
Anyway I saw the reviews for the Lloyds allergy reliever and was sceptical but went ahead and purchased one about a month ago. During this time my symptoms were mild and the Allergy reliever did help to control the sneezing etc. My hayfever kicked in full swing yesterday and I used the Allergy reliever 4 times in the day as directed. In my opinion it made no difference during this time, my symptoms are as strong as ever I was blowing my nose since I woke up at 06:30 this morning until about 09:30.
As much as I hoped this would work for me it had failed but well done at Lloyds for trying but its back to the drawing board in my opinion
Kevin
I think if you suffer really badly from hayfever, the medinose or Lloyds alternative isn't going to completely ease the symptoms. i think the pollen count over the last couple of days is horrendously high and lots of people are suffering more than normal. My son suffers badly with hayfever but had it much controlled last year by the medinose, but today he is suffering badly again.
i am pig sick of hayfever, i don't know what to suggest, i honestly could cut my nose off lol!

There has already been quite a lot of discussion about this - if you type in Allergy Reliever in Search Forum you will be able to pull up the other threads.
I bought one myself after reading some of the replies from other people. I still use it every day but am not sure how much of a difference it is making because this year is the first year I have had bad hayfever. However, I am mostly off the antihistimanes now so hopefully it has worked.
Its worth buying for the amusement factor alone - it makes your face light up like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - good for scaring the kids!

Still working for me. I'm not totally symptom free but usually in June and July, I'm confined to the house in a darkened room, overdosing on anti-histamine tablets in my desperation and feeling like a hermit. Now, I get the occasional sneeze if I forget to use the allergy reliever at the required time and sometimes I still get the itchy roof to my mouth.
All in all though, life is far more bearable and I can actually go out in the sunshine.
I saw an article the other day by the son of the TV doctor, Chris Steele, he's an athlete and gets hay fever. His dad recommended the allergy reliever to him. It works for him and also he's at no risk of being disqualified due to having any drugs in his system.
I think the clue is in it's name it's called an allergy reliever, it's not a cure. It's the best £14.99 I spent, two summers of relief and it must be good for your body not to keep taking anti-histamines.

Thanks SS,
I've had this diagnosed by the doctors since I was a child, and it is very seasonal, so it is an allergy of some sort - I find that it depends on the time as day too - which I have been told shows that I am particularly allergic to the pollen of certain types of plants.
I'm not giving up though - I really want it to work! I'm going to use it for a few months more - at least then I can't say that I didn't try...

I haven't used any hay fever relief this year at all. Usually I'm on anti histamines from the end of April right through the rape season and into the long grass. I can't usually drive when it's at it's worst simply becuase my eyes are so screwed up.
But this year I haven't taken one anti histamine at all.
By increasing my natural anti inflammatory status by not only ensuring my omega 3 status is optimal and this year instead of sticking to vitamin d supplementation at 4000iu/d I upped to 5000iu and that combined with getting every possible UVB exposure possible this year (yes it's been a bad year for suntans) has meant my vitamin d status, and anti inflammatory status is better than it has ever been and NO ANTI HISTAMINES AT ALL SO FAR (touch wood, finger crossed,so far so good) I'll post back to this thread if I have to use one.

I'm not a sufferer, but Mrs Slog is, so I think I will get one of these for her.
I admit to being more than a little skeptical about this machine, I'm pretty certain I could knock one up for less than £1 in around 1/2 an hour. Ok, it wouldn't look anything as neat as the lloyds version, and I doubt it would be very snot-proof :p , but the point is, if I could make one, why haven't Boots, Superdrug etc. Patents or the unwillingness to put their name on it?

I've had one of these things for two years now and it helps but doesn't cure my hayfever. In my case it's worth having because I had drug induced liver disease from terfenadine several years ago and really, really, don't like taking any drugs at all now.
I'd certainly advise anyone with hayfever to get one but don't expect a miracke cure, expect to find that the number of days in the year you get hayfever is greatly reduced and expect to find that the severity is reduced, BUT, forget to do the treatment for a day or two and you're back to square one.

So.. is it proving any good for eye irritation?
I have been taking Piriton for years & although it helps with the sneezing bouts ect, I'm still suffering with itchy, swollen eyes. I wear contact lenses, so am unable to use eye drops. If this machine eased the eye symptoms, I'd certainly invest in one.
