Hi everyone - my first post on this board!! :j

In the interests of money-saving, I want to try colouring my blonde hair at home. I am a natural blonde, but as I have got older it has lost a bit of it's brightness, and so I used to go to the hairdressers to get is highlighted.

Would love to try and save some cash by doing it myself though! Anyone have any tips or suggestions of brands that are good? I don't want to end up with green, straw-like hair :p

Thanks in advance!

From one blondie to another - I've always dyed my own hair using Nice 'n' Easy and I've never had any problems. I usually leave it on for approx 30 mins and I get a really good overall colour.

I will second Nice n Easy , i always used it when i was blonde , they have also brought out some 'root touch-up kits' which may save you doing it all every time ?

If you're colouring for the first time, why not use a wash in/wash out type colour or one that gradually fades over 26 washes (6 weeks). I have dyed my for years now and always used the ones that wash out or fade until my hair went grey and I have to use the permanent ones to cover the grey!

At least with the wash out ones, if you don't like the colour you can wash it away and it will give you an idea of what can be acheived with hair dyes!
