Calling all ladies who did the honourable thing and had their tubes clipped rather than send their wussy OH's to be done!!

Prior to having my sterilisation op I had a bit of trouble with an ovarian cyst (no idea I had it!) Anyway that resolved itself and the op went ahead in July 2005.

Over the last six months or so I've had discomfort in my RH lower belly at certain times, it's by no means constant. It's right "behind" one of the incision marks (quite deep feeling, not near the surface). Then again, it might be nearer the surface if I were 3 stone lighter  Sometimes its a little stabbing pain i.e. mid-cycle, the day before I'm due and more recently, horror of horror when I or**sm! Sometimes if I stretch certain way it feels like its "pulling", or I'm trapping something if I pull my right leg up to chest (a back exercise I do involves doing this).

Have any other ladies had this experience or should I be heading off to the surgery  ?

I can't remember, but I'd be heading off to the surgery myself ...

I was sterilised 5 weeks ago(so still early days for me) and cant say i have had any problems at all apart from normal post op twinges and an infection on my belly button incision.
I would visit your GP and seek out some advice to put your mind at rest.

I get this on the left hand side and I've not been sterilised or ever been pregnant (yet!). Last time I had it checked out the doc said it could be a potential hernia (this runs in the family so is fair enough) and to be careful when lifting heavy things or stretching. I call it my ovary pain even though I know it isn't my ovaries now! In your case I'd go back to the doc because it could be a scar tissue problem but don't worry too much.

Edit: just cheked your post again and if you had the op nearly two years ago now it's probably not a scar tissue problem. Have you been lifting things a lot recetly? It really does sound like a small hernia. Let us know how you get on!

Looks like I'm off back to the docs then. I'm not filled with confidence as when I was examined by one doc early in 2005 she told me she thought I had fibroids (no classic symptoms though) and sent me for an ultrasound - that's when they discovered I had an ovarian cyst, but no fibroids!!!!

I think it's linked to my right ovary by the "times" it twinges, but I never had a prob before the op.
Although I'm near "that age" everything is still as regular as ever, but it's almost made me wonder if I could have an ectopic pregnancy
but then again I don't suppose I'd get periods? I've never been pregnant or had children, so I'm a bit perplexed by it all!

Sloppychops - I got an infection in my navel too, a fungal one ,ewww! and it was bloomin sore.

I had my tubes tied about 4 yrs ago and I agree certain times of the month the area mainly where the ovaries are can be quite painful. I suffer with really heavy periods since too which dosen't help either.

Go back to GP if your worried, but I just think it's the untold side effects of sterilization unfortunatly.

By untold I mean I was never offered any info on how much discomfort ect sterilization causes. I now completely regret having the procedure to be honest. Sorry to put a downer on it :o

In view of your history of ovarian cyst it might be worth having a talk with your GP.

Oooh bad luck with the heavy bleeding, not nice.
From a point of view of not having to remember to take a mini pill every day its great, my periods really haven't changed at all luckily (yet!)
I felt very poorly immediately after the op and my tummy felt sooooo weak (I can't imagine what it must feel like after a "proper" operation)
I'm sorry you're suffering too but also glad I'm not alone, if that doesn't sound too irish!!

The fact the my GP refused to give me anymore contraceptive pills and the coil wasn't suitable, I had no option but to have a tubal tie. I never minded taking the pill to be honest, maybe because I was in control of my fertility I suppose.

Bonus that your not suffering heavy periods.

No, I know how you feel, it makes it easy to handle when you know your not the only one.

TBH it was my choice to stop taking the mini pill (progesterone only) I think my doc would've given me it until I reached the "change"!!! I'd had enough of synthetic hormones though. (my OH is a father of 4 so I'm not taking any chances  )
The coil was a non starter for me......you don't wanna know!

It's only by reading forums like this that you often find out the full facts, warts and all about such procedures.
