Dehumidifier Advice

Hi all

Ive been ill now for about 6 months on and off with ear and chest infections. Now i used to live in a caravan that was a bit damp at times, despite best efforts to keep things warm.

Im now in a house that's not been occupied for a 7 months now and Im pretty sure that theres damp in there. I cant tell because Im ill I cant smell it or taste it in the air if that makes sense.

Im considering getting a dehumidifer to see if it helps my condition a bit till I go back to my doctors (again) Theory being that if theres less damp and such then I could help with various ear infections and just make the place feel nicer?

Any suggestions on dehumidifiers are welcomed! Thanks and hope if got the right area to post

Hi I would go to the doctors to be checked out having a chest infection needs antibiotics If a house hasn't been occupied for seven months it would probably be quite damp I would think, which won't help
I have a dehumidifier I use it mostly in the winter when I am using my dryer a lot because I get condensation, I wouldn't be without mine.

Ive already been to the doctors 5 times now lol. Amoxycillin (spelling is wrong sorry) has been taken loads to no effect so now Im having bloods and such done all along the line.

My doctors first initial advice when I first had an ear infection was....

"Hold your nose and try to blow it to get your ears to clear.." I kid you not. The house is damp tho so a dehumidifier can only help.

Its been 6 months now of basically being partially death, run down etc so willing to give anything a try :-)

I'm not sure where you get them from, but my mum use to swear by the dehumidifier crystals you could get in little trays that you place on the window sills. We had secondary glazing installed infront of the main window pains and she use to put them in there. A hardware shop may sell them...

Does your house have central heating? Might be worth turning on in the evenings if the house has been unoccupied for a while to 'warm it up'.

Also, wrap up warmly while you in are indoors. May sound stupid, but one of my SIL is forever getting chest infections and coughs, colds and she wanders around permanently in tiny vest tops!

Try a different doctor, as well, asked to be referred for a chest scan if antibiotics don't work, you may just need to try a different one, if you keep taking the same one you do become immune to it.

Woolworths sell the crystals, but I think they should be placed in the proper receptacle.
Could you maybe hire a dehumidifier rather than buy one?
