I have searched the internet but still cant find a definite answer - can a person with a disabled badge park on double yellow lines?

Someone we know parked on double yellows with a disabled badge and got done for it.

Im of the mind that double yellow lines are no parking whatsoever but apparently some people say that disabled can park on them

Help much appreciated!

they all do it around my way , but there must be a "as long as its safe or causing no obstruction " clause to it as some lines are there for good reason

thanks for that, ive come up the different bits on the internet but didnt really know what to believe. one thing I found said that disabled can park on double yellows as long as there is no loading or unloading restricutions or something to that effect

AFAIK, you can park on single or double yellow lines as long as it does not cause an abstruction, and there is no loading/unloading restriction inplace for the times specified (thats the small single/double yellow lines on the kerb itself)

The concessions only apply to on-street parking and include free use of parking meters and pay-and-display bays. Badge holders may also be exempt from limits on parking times imposed on others and can park for up to three hours on yellow lines (except where there is a ban on loading or unloading or other restrictions).
