I'm trying to buy tickets for a few journeys over the summer holidays from Glasgow to London. I've bought them before and never had a problem searching out singles for about £20 or so. I've had to wait until now to try and get the tickets for 3 months time as all the sites won't give you any until then. But the cheapest I can get is £92! Am I going for them too soon or can they really have all gone on the first day? Or is it because it's the summer holidays? Any advice? I know i can start getting complicated and break down the journey but I've never had this problem before which is worrying me!
Thanks for any advice,
Jenny

I have just been on the GNER website and got a price of £11.50 and thats a single leaving on Monday 2nd July.

Edit to add : I went to the site via the following link http://www.gner.co.uk/gner/tickets/_leedslondonoffer.htm thats an offer I posted the other day, leeds to london for a fiver.

If you are looking to travel at weekends, the cheap fares are usually released later than those during the week, this is due to possible timetable changes for engineering work. I believe it is Railtrack that dictate when and where these works will take place and cant or wont confirm this until 6 weeks before the date.

The three months booking window is not an exact science - the probability is that whilst you can book seats at standard fares, the cheap ones have not been released for sale yet.

Be patient - keep checking. You will be rewarded.

As you can buy a return ticket on the day for £98.20 there's no point in not holding your nerve......
