Vauxhall Omega tale of woe

A month ago an orange warnihg light appeared on my 51 plate VX Omega, this was something to do with fuel mixture. since then:

In Garage, (Vauxhall dealer) various things cleaned £45 light came back on

back to garage car serviced and more things cleaned £120 light came back on

back to garage who looked at car and said "you'll have to book it in"

more things cleaned, light came back on

back to garage their computer says needs 02 sensor, 2 weeks later this is fitted £120, light comes back on same day. car now difficult to start and performance reduced.

Car stays in garage whist computer decides what parts to fit next. Crakshaft sensor and another 02 sensor £400. et 800m from garage light comes back on.

Back in computer now suggesting ECU required £500

Mechanics to look over again tomorrow to see if they can figure something out.

The dilema is that the car is not running well, so it has to be fixed, and I cannot sell it as no-one will want a car with an engine warning light on.

What do you do when a car starts costing money like this?

A couple of thoughts...

Is the O2 sensor due to the fuel problems at Tesco - long shot, I'd guess.

As the garage have incorrectly diagnosed the faults, are they going to help with the £$£$

Can you 'borrow' the supposedly defective components from another Omega, for them to check. Then you'll at least only pay for time, rather than more parts.

& the car is FAR too young to scrap/sell for parts/sell too cheap.

I stay in Scotland so its unlikly that this is caused by the dodgy petrol.
