View Full Version : One car - Two cars???

Hello Moneysavers...

I am in a bit of a dilemma. I'm currently driving a Nissan X-Trail 2.0 Sport, which I was thinking of downsizing anyway. It was registered in March 02 and has done about 60,000 miles.

It's all paid for - I've got no finance agreements - as I was sensible and paid the ridiculous APR off as soon as I could.

I'm about to move in with my girlfriend, who drives her parents' car at the moment - and they want it back. D'oh.

So, we have to make one car magically become two - and try to save as much money in the process.

My girlfriend drives to work everyday using motorways - about a 25 minute commute, whereas I work from home (I'm self employed).

I do legitimately need a car for business reasons - although my trips are limited to 1-2 times per week.

We've just bought a house together - so money is a little tight at the moment - and I would welcome any Moneysavers advice on what we should do in this particular predicament...

Cheers,

Martin

It depends what the comined budget is. For the motorway trips, I suggest something like a Focus Diesel. Cheap to run and service, yet comfortable!!

could your girlfriend not car share with a work colleague or catch the train or get the bus
