Occasionally when I buy a magazine, I see the best buy cosmetics.

Quite often the more expensive ones aren't as good as the cheaper ones.

Post any good value cosmetics you have discovered.

Mine are

Nail varnish - Rimmel or Loreal
Mascara - Maybelline but I do like Lancome too
Foundation (all in one) - Body shop and Chanel
Lipstick - the Loreal £9.90 shine one is good

Bourjois is good - it's essentially the same as Chanel but at a fraction of the cost.

My sister and I have totally different makeup&hairstyles so our bedroom is cluttered with beauty products and makeup.I have recently found out that collection 2000 is tested on animals which has upset both of us but I have been using some items for a while from the range
EYELINER-collection 2000 (as the liner stick is just the correct size to easily line eyes without smudges&colour consistency is perfect
MASCARA-No7 or Bourjois(usually no7 any type)
EYEPENCIL-maxfactor or boots no17
CONCEALER-natural collection or no7
FACE POWDER-boots 17
EYESHADOWS-boots no7, boot 17,natural collection, barry m,loreal.avon
BLUSHER-natural collection, bourjois or no7
LIPSTICKS-no7, maybelline or miss sporty
FOUNDATION-no7, bourjois or max factor(we also use airbrush rio stay perfect system on special occasions but this has lasted us over 2 years so a good investment)
NAILPOLISH-rimmel or boots 17
we have tried a bit of dior and clinique but we have never really liked these premium ranges, no7 is a bit pricey but works out cheap when offers of discounts etc are on
It is best to invest in a good quality set of brushes(no7) to apply makeup properly, a good mirror with illumination.light and a natural sponge for foundatin application. Also tweezermans tweezers are a good investment for eyebrows and remember good tools make even the cheapest brands last longer and look better.
Also set makeup with evian water spray after application! hth sorry for long post

Nivea creme for moisturiser
Rimmel make up

I definately agree with the above about using a good set of brushes, makes all the difference

Foundation, powder & conceler ONLY No.7 (the ultimate for these).

Lipstick Maybeline & No7

Blushers & eyeshadows, well No7, bourjoise, Benefit, no absolute fav.

Use liquid eyeliner, no real favs, like Benefit & others.

Avon used to do eyebrown makeup that was like a thin brown mascara & in a mascara type wand, it was great (much more natural than pencil lines!!!), but as far as I know they have stopped making it :-(

Still searching for the ultimate mascara (gotta be waterproof & thickening), IF YOU'VE FOUND IT, DO TELL ME.

I agree about the Tweezerman tweezers. I used to buy 99p ones about every few weeks but I've had my Tweezerman ones for three years now and they're as good as new. A great investment.

Also I would never be without YSL Touche Eclat Concealer. It's worth every penny as it takes years, or a good night out, off me! Even if I wear no make up, the Touche Eclat makes me look so much better.

Yep totally agree on the twezzers.

I've never tried the touche eclat, is it really that good?
Is it for pimples as well or just bags?

It lightens up around the eyes, or anywhere that needs covering a bit. Yes, it's perfect for spots and pimples too!

The Nivea soft cream is really good as a moisturiser, body cream and after sun - handy for taking just one tub on hols instead of three.

Vaseline is also good for a multitude of things

Accessorise sell really good lip glosses quite cheaply - probably the last place you would think to buy make up, but I've had mine for ages now and it stays on well.

at the moment i've went a bit mad on body shop make up, i find their eyeshadows really good and they stay on all day/night, some of the cheaper ones only last a few hours before they need reapplying
the bourjoius (sp) creme eyeshadows are good as well for long lasting but only come in a range of about 5 colours

in my makeup box i have ranges from boots no 17 to clinique make up (its a bad spending habit of mine lol) and i usually stick to brands i like and know will last all day/night

You shouldn't really use it on spots or pimples because it's designed to lighten dark areas (ie under your eyes) not camouflage areas (as you would want for spots etc.). As it's a highlighter you'll actually be drawing attention to the spots! But, if it works for you then why not? :D

I used to use it, but never felt it was as brilliant as the magazines make out, and then i discovered laura mercier secret concealer and secret brightening powder (bought on ebay, of course!) which are incredible and really DO get rid of undereye nastiness :rotfl: NOT secret camouflage, btw, which is for spots and is much drier (and no good for under eyes).

I'm loving MAC lip glosses.
I've just had a MAC makeover (part of my birthday pressie) and have spent £100 on their stuff so still haven't made a decision about whether it is the best stuff I've used but I've been using their Lip glosses for a few years and they are great and from the range I have just bought the cream blusher is brilliant. I've had several comments in the last 2 weeks (since starting to use it) how well I'm looking (and considering I'm pregnant and have been looking very drawn and pale recently, think this is down to the makeup).

I like the organic Lavera cosmetics I get from http://www.oliveorganic.com The concealer's lovely and light.I've got quite dark circles under my eyes and tis one's good at covering them.
They've got some lovely new moisturisers on there from Pai which I'm desperate to try. They're not really expensive but I still need to save up my pennies.
