The light is the engine management light. You may need a mechanic to take a look at the car if the light stays after the engine has started.
You'll probably find an owners manual on eBay somewhere. Otherwise, theres always the dealers.

I had to buy a new Owners Handbook for my Renault - it cost me £6 from Renault dealer. Like poster above says, try Ebay.

I have a 307 hdi and I would presume they are simular, does the light look simular to this:
http://www.deq.virginia.gov/mobile/images/mil.jpg
if it does then it is the ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS WARNING LIGHT, it comes on each time the ingnition is switched on but prior to the engine starting
If it comes on with the engine running then it means there is a problem with the emissions control system, if it flashes when the engine is running the it's a catalytic converter issue, if you have a dispay in your car then it should bring up the exact problem
if the light only comes on prior to starting the engine, don't worry about it
if it's not this symbol then let me know
hope this helps

I think you can download handbooks from peugeot.co.uk
Not sure if 206 is available though?
