Hi guys :hello:
Does anyone know of a garage (or anywhere) that will check my tyre pressure for me, and also inflate them????
Many thanks

Pop to a local petrol station, most of them have free air machines where you can check them yourself quick, easy and cheap !!

More like most of them charge you 20p for the privilege.

Why? Its very easy to do yourself. If you are not checking tyre pressure are you also neglecting other weekly maintance such as washer bottle checks, oil level, etc.
These tasks are very easy and should be completed by every driver.

Independant garages seem to be the free ones these days. Would like to throw in that is essential you check tyre pressures regularly, the right pressure will help with fuel economy as well as preventing a blow out - which i;ve had because i didnt check routinely! And then you are left to change a tyre yourself.
The PSI tyres need to be blown up to is normally written on the tyre and is very easy to do - i bought a electronic checker from boots for £5 and now take pleasure checking mine and my husbands every fortnight or so!!

I HOPE YOU ARE NOT DOING THIS - IT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND CERTAINLY ILLEGAL
The pressure shown on the tyre wall is the maximum PSI that the tyre can be inflated to. Tyres will normally be of a size that can be fitted to many different models of cars. The PSI for each car will be different, as will often the PSI between the front and rear tyres and whether the car is being used fully laden or only 2 up.
You must check your vehicle handbook to establish the correct pressure for the size of tyres on your car (often different variants of the same make and model of car have different size tyres) and the use your vehicle will be put to.
If you are using the PSI shown on the tyre wall your tyre will be inflated to substantially more than it should be, i.e. it will be over inflated. The tyre will wear quicker, your braking distance will be increased, your fuel economy will suffer and if the police have reason to check your tyre pressures (if you are involved in an accident) you may well be prosecuted. Additionally, your insurance company may well say you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle and refuse any cover except the minimum legal requirement. Therefore if you are insured Fully Comp they would not pay for any damage to your own vehicle.
Please take the time to find out the correct tyre pressures as stated in your car's handbook and make sure your tyres are then inflated accordingly. I'm sure none of us want you to have an accident or to be exposed to potential prosecuation and the like.

The posting by waster is spot on,please be guided by it.
To the op i would say consider a foot pump with a guage fitted to it,they are quite cheap,if you can't use it yourself, one of your family or friends could do it for you in a couple of minutes.
I think you may be missing the point here, Urban spirit said "But I need them doing for me unfortunately" so I suspect may not physically be able to do it, so I would suggest building up a relationship with a small independant garage for servicing etc and ask them to check for you, otherwise supermarket garages still tend to be free for air.

If the op is disabled or has no friends or family, well thats a different thing, although we are not yet aware of this,if they lived near me i would do it for them:D

Compressors are now very cheap, most cars have a cigarette lighter socket, you run them off those.

So - going back to the original question -
Go to any local independant tyre place, who will gladly do it for you.

Thank you apk1! I'm glad you read my post :D
I think either a small independent garage as suggested by you, or an independent tyre place suggested by highguyuk are the way to go - many thanks guys, very much appreciated. :)

A local tyre place should do them for you for free, I once had an embarasing situation where I couldnt get the tyre to inflate... Thinking it was the tyre and with only about half the right pressure in it i had to drive to the local tyre place i go to, they inflated it no problem... turned out the compressor at the garage had a hole in the air line.
