View Full Version : New Dipped Bulbs, Too Bright!?

Both dipped bulbs went out recently on my Focus, have replaced them with the spec in the manual, Halogen H7 and now these are causing a problem!

Driving at night last couple of weeks everyone who has been in front of me has complained (in many different ways, Some nearly coming to blows) that the glare is obviously very bright in their rear view mirror.

At the moment I'm driving with the side lights and front fog on but the cops can pull me over for that if they want to I think.
Very confused here.

If I've gone with the manufacturer's reccomendation, what can I do?
Is there a lower beam and would this fit in the H7 fitting?
Thanks for any help
Cheers

If the bulbs are the correct ones, then you need to get your headlight alignment checked, if cars coming towards you and vehicles you are following are being blinded by the glare it sounds as though your dipped beam is too high and is causing problems.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

Forgot to mention that in my op, there's a gauge by the s/wheel to adjust the beam which I've done. I've got in on the lowest level but still the problem persists ( where-as before it was on the highest level )

Cheers

Are you sure the bulbs are fitted correctly? I know they are only supposed to go in one way but I managed to incorrectly install one on my OH's Pug 206. As a result it failed its MOT since it was too bright/the beam was misdirected! All I needed to do was rotate the bulb a bit so the glare was directed downwards. Fortunately I had a free retest so the MOT wasn't a problem!

Yeah, I'd check how they are fitted. It's easy to put them in at the wrong angle. I have done it before.
