On several threads, I have given my opinions on the best way to go about choosing a dentist.
Tonight, I came across this article, which I thought put it all very well.
Obviously, it's american, but in these days of diminishing NHS availability, and the scant choice of treatments that NHS dentists are willing to perform (Although they should provide all of them according to their contracts!) it offers good advice on finding the right dentist for you.
Virtually everthing in it applies to UK dentistry - certainly the private sector.
How to pay for it all is another matter, and there is a good discussion of that on the Insurance discussion area (Could someone put in a link - I can't seem to find it at the moment!) Along with the article that Martin has done on Dental payment plans.
Anyway, The article is here http://www.gvnews.com/articles/2007/03/18/news/news04.txt
