I work in France (a lot!) and I bought a cheap car on eBay to leave over here most of the time. Most insurers I've found only offer up to 30 days in one trip and a maximum of 90 days in a year. This is completely useless for what I need and I want to find a providor who offers longer or ideally year-round cover.
(French insurers won't cover UK registered cars and the £400 car isn't worth enough to go through the hassle of exporting formally).

Cheers for any help!

I believe that www.ecarinsurance.co.uk/ allows year-round use abroad, but only for travel purposes - they don't allow you to reside abroad. Your best bet is likely to be trying a UK insurance broker to 'do the walking' for you: there's got to be some insurance company out there able to help.

This may be helpful, too:-

As an aside, you may also have trouble with the French police because you have to tax your car in the foreign country if it spends more than three months there at a time.

Good luck!
