I phoned it and it's Trinity Mirror (the newspaper folk!) - ironically taken at my place of work Cable & Wireless Glasgow (also in Birmingham)! Seems very generous of them - they also have a 118 number which charges. I havent heard of this at work and can't help but think it's a mistake or at least a secret test no. you're not supposed to know.

Congratulations on such a great posting!!

In a world of the modern directory enquiries no-one seems to know how much they all charge (not even the people working there)

I have saved loads of money with this number, as my job requires me to call directory enquiries about 10 times a day.

Paul

P.S. A GREAT MONEY SAVER!!!

Yep Definitely works, but for how long I wonder.

I take it that there cannot possibly be a charge as it's an 0800 number but the scottish lady at the other end didn't have a clue whether it cost or not??

Good point. Has anybody been spammed after calling any of these free directory enquiry numbers? I'm TPS registerd, but you never no. Will try and do a search to check Ts & Cs now that I know the company that supplies 0800 0192 190.

See.http://www.studentfreestuff.com/free_directory_enquiries.html

Seems to be an alternative no to 118190.
I tried it and it worked.

This has been posted before hear (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=37259&highlight=0800+0192190). Nevertheless, it's good to make everyone aware of it when you consider that it's free. Better than paying the hideous price's 118's tend to charge. Well spotted. :T
