The address fields allow for multiple countries - hopefully that means it's not just for West Yorkshire :D

This is exactly what I have had. My daughter has not had this email, and yet applied AFTER me!!
I firmly believe this 'first come, first served' lark is a load of baloney; I think they just allocate them to the first however many names and addresses come to hand, and those who apply first are sometimes bottom of the pile ... example being the Green & Blacks chocs where the OP did not receive any but later applicants (me included) were lucky enough to get them.

I haven't received the out of stock e-mail as yet ... maybe they are prioritising people in West Yorkshire

I'm in West Yorkshire and got the out of stock email.. At the end of it, they say we hope you're not too disappointed. I replied and told them I was !

I think what made it worse, was getting the initial email advising you your Valentine chocolate would be with you within 7 days, then to be let down with the follow up email (especially for you, when you actually live there!)
Maybe they have less than they thought because the Safety Partnership Team staff have taken a load home for their other halves!!

Just found this on the West Yorkshire Safety Team website:
THE POWER OF LOVE!
Wednesday, 31 January 2007
A road safety campaign for St Valentine’s Day has been pulled after less than six hours because it was too successful.
West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership, which is responsible for the county’s speed control safety cameras, offered visitors to its website www.safetycameraswestyorkshire.co.uk miniature boxes of free "lovers’ chocolates".
Every box came with a letter outlining the role of cameras… the lid carried a design of two cameras in the shape of a heart… and inside the lid was the message "From------ To -------- Please be careful on the roads today… and every day…. because I love you". People were asked to sign the box and give it on February 14 as a personal road safety love token. Supplies were limited and were offered on a "first come, first served" basis.
But just two hours after posting the initiative on the website, there were more than 500 requests. By tea time, it had gone past 3000. More supplies were ordered and a specialist delivery company was called in to handle demand. The promotion was halted and "Sorry, all gone" signs were quickly put on the website.
Philip Gwynne, who designed the campaign, apologises to the hundreds whose requests came in after supplies had run out and says he was "amazed and overwhelmed" by the size and speed of the response. "Requests were coming in faster than we could open them. They were from all over the UK, from the US, Canada, Eastern Europe, even India and China. But people in West Yorkshire will have priority."
He concedes that the words FREE and CHOCOLATE might have encouraged requests but adds: "It was made clear that these were very small boxes in aid of road safety, so anyone thinking they’d make a "proper" Valentine’s gift will be sorely disappointed."
Now Mr Gwynne knows what it is like to be MSE'd!!!
Doesn't sound true that West Yorkshire is being prioritised, though, does it from comments in this thread!

Thanks for posting that Violetta. It was me who suggested that people in West Yorkshire might be getting prioritised because I hadn't received the out of stock e-mail myself ... was just a theory. Guess I must have been lucky enough to get my request in early enough then.
