For those of you who may not have heard but the prescription charge for everyone in wales will be abolished from April this year. The Welsh Assembly DOES actually do something useful then!
This will personally save me loads as I get 6 prescriptions a month.
Here's hoping that the rest of Britain follow suit soon. Essential medication in my opinion should be free for all

But it ISN'T free is it?
It just means you pay more tax somewhere else, or other health services will be cut.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, or a free prescription.
You could say that about anything, but most people presumably would be pleased that sick people don't have a financial burden when they are not well, especially people who need repeat prescriptions.

The current exemptions, and prepay certificate systems have always seemed to work well, and keep the costs down for those you mention.
It's the services for the minorities and those without a great number of votes that are going to suffer. Mental health, special needs and elderly care are the ones that normally get it in the neck when muppets go for the 'popular' policies to hide their shortcomings.
