Joost Invites (merged)

Formerly known as the Venice Project, SKYPE's TV on the internet is now on Beta trial. I have applied but as the list is very long they suggest you blag an invite from beta users (seemingly you are given a number of invites when you are signed up) Does anyone have one that I can have ?
When my 'official' beta trial is sent i'll post notice of the spare invites I have.

At the moment, beta testers are given 'tokens' which can be converted into 'invitations'. I joined up a couple of weeks ago and have yet to be given any 'tokens'. In other words, being in the beta test is no guarantee of being able to give out invitations to join.

If it's any consolation you aren't missing much. It's just about watchable on my Athlon 2600+/1Gb and not really watchable at all on mu Dell Inspiron 1300. It's very processor-intensive if you don't have a decent gfx card. If you have a high end machine and a decent bb connection it's probably fine bu the content is (necessarily) rather limited.

The BBC have a multicast trial, if any of you are connected via an ISP that currently supports multicast/is involved with the BBC trial, check it out. Although there are new ones added that are not on the list yet so worth asking your ISP.

If you wonder what I am on about (which is probably the case for most people) multicast is a far more efficient way of distributing live or otherwise content where all users are receiving exactly the same content at the same time, one of the major improvements on using multicast is that far less bandiwdth gets used than if done using alternative methods. Joost invites will be available to beta-testers periodically. We get issued with tokens that can then be used to invite new users. To-date I've had no tokens - but am happy to keep an eye out.
You might still want to register yourself, if you haven't already - don't know which will come through quicker.

Dont bother with joost if you DONT have broadband with unlimited bandwith!
It requires you to use alot of your bandwith around 320mb per hour!

EDIT: OK if anyone already has JOOST the invites have been moved!! The only way to invite is now from within the application.. just go to 'My Joost' on the right of the screen.

I thought about that too but I checked their advice about the minimum etc and I have 256mb stand alone graphics so shouldn't be a problem but it is. Maybe if one has the very latest graphics card and top end processor it would be ok but my mid range system can not cope with it.

Installed the software but hit an error straight away saying I didn't have the latest 3D graphics wotsit!

Also during setup it told me I didn't have enuff graphix memory!

Time to take my graphics card out and give it a good talking to I guess!

As I think I said before Joost is a complete waste of time, by all means give it a try but unless you have the latest PC with the highest speed broadband you are wasting your time, and even if you have all of the above then you will be seriously let down by the rubbish content. It is a waste of cyberspace at the moment, but I have no doubt that it will get better (and probably fairly quickly)

Well i don't have fast PC (P4 2.4) ok i have 2.5meg downbut it never uses more then one meg and it runs fine on mine, as for contect well it ain't TV sky but there is some half decent stuff have a nose and see for yourself.

I also have 980 odd left so if you do one an invte just pm me your first and second name and email addy and i'll get them of to you asap.

The latest edition of joost for anyone who doesnt have it is called joost friends edition basically it is now in the final stages of beta and so memebers have been given unlimited invites.

Also to anyone just starting joost took me a while to figure out but there are more channels than just the 'my channels' section there is also the channel catalog with all the listings. still not much worth watchin though
