Airman instant tyre repair kit -any good?

Hi there,

I have just bought this kit from woolworths. its an instant tyre repair kit that pumps seallant into your tyre for a temporary puncture solution.

anyone know anything about this or whether its worth the money £29.99, or if Its useless and I should leave it back?

it looks like you're paying for the compressor more than anything..

is the sealant the same as this?

I think you can use tyreweld on its own, no need to pump air in.

Well the thing is by pumping all this sealant into the punctured tyre the garage may not be able to repair it due to the sealant you have just added. Depending on the tyre of repair they use it may react and stop the repair from doing its job. Its a gamble and up to you if you want to take it or not, on one hand it may get you home when otherwise stuck but by same token it may cost you for a new tyre when a £5 repair would otherwise have done the trick.

Personnaly id go for tyre weld, on the notes above im a firm believer in a new tyre is better than a repaired tyre and id rather not take the chance if its failed once may as well get a new one (or 2) its not worth a blow out later.

I can't see the point of it on a car with a spare tyre, especially at that price

nothing wrong with a repaired tyre, its just that many places use a patching system similar as you would with a bike inner tune and the gunk in these tyre sealant things stop the glues they use from doing its job properly. They are also strict about what they repair so its really not a problem in any way having a puncture repair done.

If you drive over a nail though that's not really a case of the tyre "failing", is it?
