Breakdown REPAIR Cover

Has anyone used this before - It is not breakdown cover but insurance if the car develops a fault during the insurance period

I ve been quoted 80 pounds for the entire year, which I think is extremely reasonable.

My only concern is when you come to actually claim and how the claim process works

I am also concerned that the same premium is given for brand new cars as well as cars ten years old and doesnt take into account how expensive the car is - I would have thought this would have affected the preimium.

Anybody used these and are they worth it?

It looks good, particularly as I've just spent £400 on a new clutch. However, when you read it, that wouldn't have been covered and neither would any other fault that I've had with my cars over the last 10 years, eg window motors. It quotes cambelt as £203, whereas it's more likely to be £2000 if it snaps, depending on the car and only covers the first £475. It also only covers those items which make the car undriveable. It's unlikely that you would have more than one catastrophic failure in a year unless you were very unlucky, particularly as regular garage servicing is a requirement.

I guess it's really another insurance for peace of mind - you could end up paying for years and never claiming or you could be glad you took it out.

You pay your money and take your choice....

Interesting - I wonder how one can define a word like undriveable - Seems quite open eded

I would say any fault made it underiveable...
