Update:

Our Ref / CAT

Dear Avon Customer

I am writing to advise you of a technical error that occurred on our website and affected your recent order.

When you selected your choice of products, the offer for 500ml Avon Bubble Bath was clearly stated as £4.00 or ‘ Buy two choose 2nd free’ (Not to me it aint - free means it free....)

However, when your selection was added to your shopping basket, both items appeared as free. This genuine error means that we are unable to process your order and I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. The error has now been rectified. If you wish to take advantage of the 'buy one get the same one free' bubble bath offer, please go onto the website and re-submit your order.

Please be assured that we have arranged for your shipping charge to be refunded to the card in which your payment was made.

Thank you for your cooperation and may I apologise for the inconvenience.

Yours sincerely

Angela Campbell
Avon Customer Service Team

Well you can order 6 but more likely to flag your order up. Probably best to order 2 if you want to come in under the radar with the rest of the early grabbers. (Theory only of course!)

No.

I suspect the only people who'll get these will be those who've ordered something else at the same time because once Avon debit the cards they'll have entered into a contract to supply the entire order.

Thanks for this! This is my first post here although I've been a lurker on and off for a few weeks!
I bought 2 of the bubble bath and was looking for another item to buy, so checked out the eyeshadows looking to get one for my mum for christmas, when I found..
color trend eye contact eyeshadow duo - priced at £4 each, or buy two for £3! What an odd offer, is this a mistake too? Well I've ordered 2 of those anyway, which came to a grand total of £2.70 inc.del! Not bad eh! I doubt they will come but fingers crossed!

one of the reasons i left being an avon rep was the problems with the christmas orders year after year!!!! every year even if you get your order in early everything is always out of stock!!!! they keep saying it will come next time, but it never does and then you have to let your customers down near to christmas.

also the sham that is the returns system, you always get re-charged as i think the courier sends your returns via the moon before they reach avon!!!!

As an Avon rep you should have ordered loads of them to sell on to your customers over the next wee while and make more profit.
After all the Avon rep earnings are a pittance compared to other businesses such as kleeneze

when i left avon i apparently owed them £15 for something that i'd never recieved... after telling them 3 times, i was assured their records would be ammended then 3 months later got a bill for £30, which included a late payment fee... by then i was so !!!!ed off with it i just paid it...

afterwards wished i'd put up more of a fight, but at the time i had alot going on in my life and i didn't need anymore hassle!

Yeah you're not wrong there!! However, it is a good freebie for those people who dont get avon normally, and id rather they got a chance at it.

DIVADEE - couldn't agree more, every year there is something, i was out one year on xmas eve delivering late orders, and nearly everyone said they didnt want the order any more - so not only was it time wasted, I also lost money and lost orders the year after as people didnt want to take the risk - couldnt agree with them more...felt really sorry for them.... avons response was "so how come you havent ordered campaign 1 and 2 books??" ....

...well you can imagine the mouthful they got!!!

ok i am lost what clue for where????

For free delivery - put in COMEBACK or BIRTHDAY

I have ordered but doubt we will get them! I read on another site about people ordering 1000's.

I was also an Avon lady - I agree with previous comments about xmas deliveries and recharges on returned products - when I left they charged me twice, but after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing all charges were cancelled.

But this to me is a bit of comeback - so long as we get it!!!

i actually feel sorry for avon if they have to send all these out...

mattandhmorningcrew
10-12-2006, 11:42 PM
I don't feel sorry for avon, they operate so unethically it makes me sick. They recruit women, often on benefits / low income because they are desperate for money and they tell you that the earings are cash in hand (which as far as I know they are are), and then rely on the newly recruited avon reps friends family and neighbours to order cos they feel sorry for the so said avon rep. People will order stuff they don't really want or need (or could get cheaper in superdrug) to help them out. The avon rep has to pay for the catalogues, spend their time delivering, collecting orders etc and often ends up with a credit towards the next lot and not a lot more for all the hard work they have put in on avons behalf. So much for the minimum wage!

Its not just in this country either, they are working their avon magic all over the ghetto estates of america, where quite frankly, I think women have better things to spend their money on than a new eye liner in the hope it will help their next door neighbour make some money.

Anyway, my rant is over, sorry about that everyone. I have ordered their bubble bath and hope they fullfill their orders. Its about time they gave back to the community that keeps them going. I like to think of it as a good will gesture to all of use who have ordered something off the local avon lady.

PS - I was an avon lady myself once and it was really hard work, so don't think I don't have respect for all those who do it for a bit of extra cash, because I do.

I hope I haven't offended anyone, I just get angry at avons selling tactics xxx

im sure it'll be in the papers so if they dont honour it, it'll give them a bad name so maybe wud be in their interests. PLus if their that big a company its not gona backrupt them as they can probably get the bottles for £1 so lose £50-100k, isnt a big deal!

I'd be careful using the BIRTHDAY code as that is only sent out to website members when it is actually their birthday (I was sent it last week when it was mine) and only lasts for 30 days after, so they'd be able to trace whether you should be officially using it or not.

A little stressed!!
11-12-2006, 11:36 AM
Any news from Avon head office yet? Can they really charge you the full price? That might put u over your CC limit incurring you more costs! They must only be able to not send it!

Chocmonster7
11-12-2006, 12:00 PM
It might sound harsh but why should Avon care about anyones credit card limit? It's up to the person ordering to make sure that they've got enough cash to cover what they've bought, especially when they know a code or price might not be valid.

I've not yet had and e-mail confirming delivery etc as detailed on the receipt
But neither have they taken the money from my card (it's not pending either).

I looked at their site on how to cancell just incase they do take the money, but can't find anywhere on avon's website that allows me to access 'my account' or similar, do they have such a thing?

Has anyone who's had payment taken recevied the email comfirming dispatch?

All,

It seems most of the posts related to Avons inability to keep their site secure have been deleted.

Once again, it's possible for just about anyone to view current and past orders, name and address, email address and signature of person who takes delivery c/o Lynx.

Agreed, we shouldn't further highlight the way to exploit, however I think it was a bit rash that the topics were removed in their entirety, denying mse'rs the opportunity to refrain from shopping on a less than secure site until the situation was rectified..

Nope, they can't pick and choose which bits of your order they want to honour.

If they've charged your card then they're obliged to send you the entire contents of your order as per the contract that now exists between them and you.

Yeah, I know the whole "when is a legally binding contract actually formed" argument has been done to death but it doesn't do any harm to keep oneself mindful one's statutory rights :D

Surprised there isn't a sticky on it actually!

just had the following email

Dear Avon Customer

I am writing to advise you of a technical error that occurred on our
website and affected your recent order.

When you selected your choice of products, the offer for 500ml Avon Bubble
Bath was clearly stated as £4.00 or ' Buy two choose 2nd free'.

However, when your selection was added to your shopping basket, both items
appeared as free. This genuine error means that we are unable to process
your order and I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may
cause. The error has now been rectified. If you wish to take advantage of
the 'buy one get the same one free' bubble bath offer, please go onto the
website and re-submit your order.

Thank you for your cooperation and may I apologise for the inconvenience.

Yours sincerely

QUOTE "A trader who mistakenly prices a product (for example, “28 inch widescreen television for £39.90” instead of £399) is not obliged to honour that price unless the transaction has already been completed. The trader must nevertheless take immediate steps to rectify the mistake".

I have to say to whoever did that, its disgusting. Take a couple like everyone else, thats just pure greed!

Sorry to be thick .. how does 'one' actually see this??

I asked the exact same question last night! But it is shocking to see how easy it is to do:mad:

We can't discuss it further due to security issues etc.

Hope Avon repair it asap!!!

I DON'T BELIEVE IT ! - JUST CHECKED AND THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT!!!

12-12-2006, 6:29 PM
I don't want my other bits if I'm not getting my bubbles!! Can I cancel? They should at least send us a sample! I bet if we accidently didn't pay enough 4 something we would get late charges etc! Should be the same rules wen they make an accident!

I have just found this on a consumer website:

QUOTE "A trader who mistakenly prices a product (for example, “28 inch widescreen television for £39.90” instead of £399) is not obliged to honour that price unless the transaction has already been completed. The trader must nevertheless take immediate steps to rectify the mistake".

I wonder where I stand as they have already charged my card for the other items I bought.

xxx

If your order comprised of x items

AND

(1) you've offered payment for x items in the form of card details

AND

(2) they've accepted your payment for x items by debiting the said card

THEN

(3) they're legally obliged to send you x items

If they don't then you're within your rights to sue............however, whether anyone would sue over £4 worth of bubble bath........I suspect Avon know that as well!

Just thought I'd mention that I have filed an online complaint form with the Information Protection Commission (the people who police Data Protection breaches in the UK). Since Avon don't appear to be in any rush to protect their customers, I'm satisfied that drawing it to the attention of the IPC was warranted.

I ordered two of these along with a couple of other bits. Now I'm concerned as to what people can see. Can someone PM with details please and how to get my details off their system. P.S my card has been debited.

They can see your order details for the last 6 months, names, addresses delivered to and who signed for the parcel.

Good call, I've joined you in making a complaint. The more the merrier as far as I am concerned, it can only help highlight the issue to the appropriate authorities.

Oh on top of this I notice the amount was debited from my current account (Debit) yesterday so they may well have issues on this one.

I don't think anyone's complaining about the freebies at all, or lack of them, much more to do with a poorly designed website that does not comply with their own security statement

I'm not bothered about getting the bubblebath (I've emailed them to say CANCEL MY ORDER/REMOVE ALL MY DETAILS). What is worrying me is their lack of security.
