Has anyone had either of these done?
I am booked in for urodynamics on Weds this week and a cystoscopy next Weds and I just wondered how people felt after having them done, how long it took to "recover, etc.
TIA

Urodynamic investigations (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/womenshealth/sui/urodynamics_005142.htm)
When I had mine done a pipe was inserted and water pumped in and the pressure tested. As communication between my bladder and brain now doesn't exist the person doing the test kept asking and pumping until the maximum level was reached and then the bladder was emptied. Didn't take very long, wasn't at all uncomfortable, didn't take any recovery time for me.
Cystoscopy (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/examinations/cystoscopy.htm) that was more interesting, again another pipe insertion but this time you get to watch it if you want. Never seen the inside of a bladder before so the novelty aspect was quite interesting. Again once they've had a good look round and found or not found anything interesting the pipe comes out and off you go.
I drove home after both investigations with no problems. Although I know the incidence of bladder problems amongst those with PPS is higher than normal I've yet to meet a urologist who understands how PPS can affect bladder function so my problem is officially "idiopathic", the idiots diagnosis. But at least they didn't find anything to worry about and if like me you end up with self-catherisation, it may seem awful at first but you soon get the hang of it.

Thanks for the Ted. The urodynamics blurb says that I will have a cather in my bladder and something up my bum!!! Not looking forward to that :-(
I am having the cystoscopy done under general so I won't be able to look.
What is PPS? I am having all mine done because of pain and urgency.

Forgot to say I am also having a "bladder stretch" at the same time as the cystoscopy.
