Was at work, slipped on a littered floor in the lab. Fell akwardly and have been off work since. Bit of background, the floor is usually a bit messy and its always me or one other lass who sweeps it, the cleaners dont seem to do anything, as an example we didnt get soap in the dispenser for 2 weeks after in ran out, even after leaving a "please can u fill our soap up" note, and working in a labyou HAVE to was your hands before leaving.
Anyway there was a bit of plastic tubing on the floor, I hadnt seen it, I slipped and have been in agony ever since, on a massive amount of pain killers. I contacted work regarding them helping me pay for private physio they refused. I went home for my birthday about a month after the accident, my parents helped me pay for a sesh with the physio who treated my brother a few months back, but she would only see me as a private patient. She said I have a trapped nerve strained my lower back, and have a stiff upper back prob as a result of some whiplash as a fell. That I need to see a physio when i get home, as my lower back (the most painful bit) is over compensating for the movement lost in my upper back.
And last week I was in agony with severe neck ache ( i could only move my head about 5 degrees, and it kept going in to spasm, after a whole night of being sat up and in tears with the pain, on the phone to NHS direct and then they put me thru to the emergency dr who was useless telling me to overdose... taking paracetamol on top of cocodamol and ibruprofen on top of dichlofenac!!!
managed to get a dr appmnt in the morning but had to wait till 12, when i saw dr she said it was because of me having a bad back, holding myself funny/ lack of movement had caused my neck muscles to lock up after a course of diazepam and exercises for my neck i have a lot more movement but its not gone yet.
I am in so much pain and sooooo fed up I cry sooo much over this.
Oh my Dr has referred me to an NHS physio but it could be weeks and weeks before I see them.
Before this happened I would never have sought compensation but my sick pay will run out if it hasnt already, I assume I would be informed when the SSP kicks in?! I cant do anything, I cant sit for more than 20 mins or stand, and spend most of the day walking off the intense pain.
Can any one offer me advice as to how or even if i can claim against my company... I dont really want to but I feel like I have very little choice, as I cant afford private physio :(
I Just want to be better now
