Just getting impatient but I passed on 1st Sept and the examiner said he'd send the docs that afternoon, but I've heard nothing from IAM at Chiswick :( just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes typically.
Also what do they actually send? Is it just a certificate and one of those windows stickers or do they send a nice enamel badge for the front grille too? :D :T

I think mine took about three weeks (for a certificate) but that was about 15 years ago. You'll have to buy the nice enamel grille badge but you'll find lots of other options in your first issue of "Advanced Motoring".
Welcome to the world of advanced motoring (or motorcycling in my case). Our group's certificates take 2-3 weeks to come through. They are generally sent through to the group chairman and she presents them at the next group meeting so that the new member and the observer get recognition from the other members.
You get a certificate and, from memory, you then get in the post a membership pack that includes a car sticker - red for cars, green for bikes - and other bits & pieces about membership.

Update - received my "pack" this morning - no red sticker, instead there's a rectangular IAM window sticker, but the back of it is clingy, not the front where the logo is so I'm a little perplexed as to how and where this goes? Surely not supposed to face inside the car?
Edit: I've managed to make it stick to the rear screen. I don't see why the back was more clingy than the front  :o
My certificate is with the group chairman for presenting at the next meeting, which I'm not going to be at :rotfl:
