Hi!
The lock on one of the rear doors of my Mrs's elderly (R plate) vectra has broken, so the door can't be opened. Is that an MOT failure?
Thanks
Kevin

Try this webiste it tells you the requirements for a MOT...think the back door not openeing could be a fail, but not 100% sure

Hope this helps

Doors
Open and close. Latch securely in closed position. Front doors should open from inside and outside the vehicle. Rear doors may need to be opened to gain access to testable items.

I think this means that basically the front doors need to be openable from both inside and outside, however the way the rear door situation reads to me is that they arent as important. Can your rear doors be opened from the inside or not?, only problem i could see why its a fail is because of health and safety maybe if passengers in the back cannot exit the vehicle

Hi. I run an MOT station and we would not fail the car on the rear door not opening. BUT,,,, If the testing station feel that it is hiding something or they cant get at the rear belts to check them ( usually accessed from inside the vehicle) they can " refuse to test ". So lets hope you get a nice test station like ours !!!.
Hope this helps.
