Hi,
Off to London on Thurday evening for a long weekend. We were supposed to be going Thursday day but plans have changed & we are not going to be arriving until Thursday evening
So now I need to be more organised!
We are staying at Travelodge High Holburn. (now called Travelodge covent garden!)
I was hoping to find somewhere relatively safe (:D ) to park the car towards the end of the Central line or Picadilly line so we can get the tube straight there.
The central line option would prob be better 'I think' as we are coming from the midlands so on my little map it looks easier but I maybe wrong. I haven't been to London for a few years (even though I lived there for the first 15yrs of my life!)
Mayebe somewhere between Ruislip - Acton. I need to leave the car there until Sunday afternoon. I dont mind paying - just not central London prices.
I've done some searching on the net but am not having much luck!
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions I'd be most grateful :)
Thanks in advance for your time.
If all else fails ... you can park in our garage .... but we ain't near the underground :o Will ask around for you though!;)

There are car parks at West Ruislip (Central), Ickenham and Hillingdon (Piccadilly) tube stations, but I don't know how much they charge. There are side streets around Ickenham station without parking restrictions but these tend to be clogged with commuters' cars during the day.

That might be worth a try though as we wont be arriving until at least 7-8pm. And if we cannot get into a side street I'm happyto pay to park. As long as its not central london prices
Thanks for that.

Hillingdon Station may be a good bet as well. Wery close to the A40 (near the end of the M40) and on the Piccalidically Line too. Big car park is only £1 at weekends.

Do you know if you can buy a long stay ticket though?
I need to be able to buy a ticket from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon :)

Ooh I don't know. The car park is operated by NCP - it may be worth asking them.

I used to live in Hillingdon a few yeas ago. From memory, if you want to stay over 24 hours, you can buy a parking ticket from the station ticket booth.
If central line is more convenient, West Ruislip is only a couple of minutes up the road from Hillingdon. Also the West Ruislip car park tends to be easier to find a space.

Seriously, do not leave your car at any of these places for any length of time.
As you are travelling in the evening, you should find local parking near any of the three stations just a short walk away. The only thing is though your car is likely to be reported as abandoned by the locals but as it is over a weekend, it should still be there when you get back and is far more likely to be intact than left long term in one of the station car parks.

Taking into account that the majority of areas nearer to central London have controlled parking zones.
Consider parking on the street near Hornsey British Rail Station. Links with Victoria Line and Piccadilly line - no controlled parking and no more than 20 minutes to Holborn/Covent Garden stations. No problems parking in Glebe Road,Tottenham Lane or Ribblesdale Road 6.30 onwards.

:rotfl: That's what my husband keeps saying.
I'm not going to be showing him your post :o :D
I'm a risk taker
I'll let you know next week if we return to a car or an empty space :)
