Hello
I am moving from a local job, requiring a little runaround, to one where I will be driving 100 miles + a day. Any one in the same boat able to give me some advice?
I need recommendations for a good reliable diesel car. Built in Sat Nav would be good, but not essential. Cigarette lighter is crucial, to attatch a sat nav. Needs to be comfortable, and the lower the running costs the better. Also needs a half decent sound system, due to the danger of extreme boredom on the road.
Any advice would be appreciated.

there are a few ways to look at it buy somthing inexpensive and hope for the best or go for a larger more comfortable motor that will cost a bit more to buy. Im looking at the moment and was supprised how much you can get for not alot of money like a vectra on an 05 plate for 9k 2.0DTi LS 13000 miles on it I didnt think was too bad I may end up buying it. I was thinking I would be paying that for an astra not a vectra.
As for sat nav built in to to a car if you need an update you usually need to pay for them, with tom tom the updates are usually alot cheaper. lighter sockets are standard I think now and some cars come with more than 1 now.
Depending on how many miles your looking to be traveling depends weather it is worth paying the extra for diesel, they say 25000-26000 miles a year is the mark when diesel starts to save money and that is about your mark based on 100 miles a day you may find it better vaule to buy a higher spec petrol with more luxuries for the same money that if you bought a diesel.
Another thing to consider is the company your working for may have a standard your allowd the drive, especially if your traveling on business. I have worked for a few and they said no cars older than 5 years, a full set of doors and good interior leather prefered. I alway s opted for a company car there tehy can buy the thing.

Cheers little John. Good solid advice there
Hello gerretl
I'll move your thread over to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1009335#post1009335)) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies.
