Initiatives like this are great, but why do they need 20 days to deliver a hippo?! No wonder they've been fined for water wasting and bad customer service.
This is fulfillment gone mad.

you can just put a brick or large stone at the bottom of the cistern, that will do the job. by taking up space that will mean less water in the cistern.

If you check with your local water supplier they may have them on offer - mine does in the anglia area.

Mine arrived quite quickly. They do water hippos and also water block type things. They are different sizes so suitable for different size cisterns. Quite useful really.
One is the conventional hippo bag and the other is a sachet of gel crystals that swells in size to take up space.
Very nifty!

As long as Welsh Water supply you you are ok, log onto their site http://www.dwrcymru.com/English/Forms/hippo/index.asp, they will provide domestic customers with up to three hippo bags free of charge, industrial customers can apply up to five times. The Hippo Bag may not be suitable for toilet cisterns that have less than 6.5ltr capacity or are dual flush
Welsh customers supplied by Dee Valley however are not so lucky, if they do supply them foc they are keeping it a very good secret.
