I'm looking to buy a new mattress and like the look of the latex ones that don't need turning. Does anyone know what they are like? Where's the best place to buy them? Thanks.

Hi - I bought a Tempur mattress (got a great deal on at the time mind!) although it is a large outlay it is well worth it, especially if you suffer from allergies, back pain etc. !Its nice and warm in winter, so much so I've ditched my electric blanket! ! :)
Also great in that it stays flat, so you don't end up rolling into your partner all night (unless you want to of course!) !;)

Tempur can be found in most magazines, or in the chiropractors reception, you get 60 days trial (check t & c) to see if you like it or not (give yourself a couple of weeks before you decide). !

I also have a Tempur matress, but have had for a couple of years now.
The matress is supposed to last for 15 years.
It took me some getting use to at first, but is now very comfortable.
Temur have their own web site.
Good hunting

Hi l bought a tempur mattress 3 months ago, its fantastic. !I love it, my gf loves it.

Very comfy, check out http://www.tempur.com/page2752.asp for some more detail on the beds.

Bought mine from Furinture village, make sure you get a big discount, and insist on free delivery - l was in such shock over spending so much money l didn't push this point - if they say they can't do it get up to leave - they will give it to you free (£35 otherwise).

I bought a divan base made by a different company other than tempur as l did not think the quality of the bases or drawers were good enough for the high price of them, the tempur mattress is a standard size so any base/frame will do.

I'm very happy with mine, after paying so much for one, it's nice to know you are guaranteed for 15 years by tempur themselves. !BTW the base from FV is guaranteed by them for 5 years, as is everything they sell. !

I also have the tempur pillows - even if you don't buy the mattress get the pillows - they are the best!! !l bought them about 18months ago before l coudl afford the mattress, they even have a 3 year guarantee on them!

Highly recommended.

Hi
can't afford a Tempur mattress so bought a nice comfy normal bed last year. BUT I am interested in Tempur pillows cos of slipped disks in neck (ouch!).
But when I tried them, the pillows, in a shop they were hard as bricks and instantly made my neck hurt. As a user can you advise me? i.e. do the pillows get easier to use with time and become more comfy?
thanks

I tried a special pillow for neck back injury and yes they do go to the shape of your head and get softer. I would presume the mattress does the same is it called memory foam?

I have Tempaur pillows. I didn't like it at first either, it took some getting used to. The pain relief I have had from using it was well worth the effort and the cost. Although I did nearly collapse at the time the chiropractor suggested I get one and they were about £65 each!!
My next purchase will be a matress, just need to save up first!

The pillows tend to be harder than the mattress. If they are cold they do take 2/3mins to "warm up" and then become soft like putty.

My mattress is always soft like putty, you just slowly sink into slightly and it totally supports your body, it's great.

It is expensive, but it will last min. 15 years and is the best.

I'd recommend the pillows to everyone - once you've had them a week you will not want to go back to normal pillows - l even try and take mine on holiday with my when l travel in the UK! Same the bed doesn't fit in the back of my car.... ;)

At first the pillows are uncomfortable and you want to ditch them, but after a while you will never want to use anything else! Unlike Webmasterpolo my Tempur pillow travels the world with me! However you do get THE best result when you've also got the Tempur mattress, and as I said before, you have to give that a couple of weeks to get used to it.....................after that there's nothing better! :)

I know you are supposed to change your mattress every few years but I have had my latex matress since 1981. It was quite innovative at the time (made by James Seccombe) and it wasn't cheap. I have to say it must have been the best money I have ever spent and I would never buy anything other than latex.

It is only recently that I have been thinking the edges are now a bit softer than they used to be although it is still in excellent condition and very comfortable.

Anyhow who has ever shared or been loaned my bed comments on how comfortable it is!!

Physio Supplies are flogging some of their discontinued Tempur mattresses on E-Bay. I've ordered a king size 15cm combi mattress for £800 + £50 delivery (RRP £1249). There was a problem with the E-Bay "Buy It Now" when I tried to pay, so I phoned them to place an order. The same mattress is priced at £920 on their website, so a nice £70 saving!!

I know this thread is old by now, but I would LOVE a latex mattress but cannot afford the £800 or so the Tempur,or other well known makes cost. I found this link the other day, and am very tempted to buy one!
I would appreciate any comments, as although it is very cheap, I do not want to throw money away!
