There is a Renault Megane promotional event taking place this summer across the Uk where you can get free tickets to their summer drive thru movie nights. I've bagged myself 2 to see Catch Me If You Can next weekend so hurry and you might be lucky enough to get a pair of tickets too! I love a bargain. :T
Here are the details: http://www.channel4.com/meganemovies/

Warm summer nights, the car roof’s down, you’re watching one of your favourite movies. For free. Sound too good to be true? Well think again, as that’s exactly what you can look forward to at the Renault M!gane Summer Movies-a season of free drive-in films held at five magnificent venues across the UK. And all you have to do to request tickets is complete the online form, found here.

http://www.channel4.com/film/advertorial/megane/form.jsp

The noble drive-in may have fallen out of favour at one time, but this great entertainment icon is back. What could be better than watching a classic movie on a big screen from the comfort of your car, listening to the soundtrack on your radio in full FM clarity. This summer, the fun kicks off in London on the weekend 15th and 16th of July, with two screenings in historic Gunnersbury Park, then every weekend travels to a new city, taking in Birmingham (Weston Park), Manchester (Arley Hall), Brighton (Brighton Racecourse) and finally Edinburgh (Hopetoun House) on the 12th and 13th of August. Ten classic films (http://www.channel4.com/meganemovies/renault_films.html) will be shown during that time, each hand-picked for its superior merits as drive-in fodder, including The Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Moulin Rouge and Sideways.

Fingers crossed it doesn't rain eh!

it's a link from clicking on "request tickets" on the left hand side at the bottom - kinda big and obvious once you've seen it, but it took me a while to notice too!

EDIT - realised that the link to the form was in the OP - sorry........... really must try to wake up! in a post lunch lull atm!

I received an email confirmation with my unique code almost immediately, that I will need to display clearly in my windscreen when I arrive for speed of processing apparently.

Here it is, on the left of the page near the bottom:

Forgot to say that they recommend that there are only 2 passengers per car, as the backseat passengers will have restricted viewing, so get your friends to apply for extra tickets if there are more than 2 of you! :j

Hope this helps.

Had a news letter email from renault today & you can apply online to see movies from a choice of 5 different drive in locations in the uk. It's open to anyone & is 1st come 1st served.

No good to me as I'm away for the 1st & second weekend of screenings & the others are too far away  Thought quite a few of you might be able to take advantage of this so here's the link:

I just wondered what people's registration codes consisted of?

My code is a 5 digit number. My friends are going too, and their codes are their number plates. Will I still get in?

What's everyone else got?

The Renault M!gane Summer Movies are not just a great way to see your favourite films on the big screen they’re also about enjoying the good life under the summer stars, and that means indulging in some fine Mediterranean cuisine.
With a range of luxury food stalls at every drive-in, you can forget your sweaty hotdogs and stale popcorn. Here you’ll feast on the likes of penne tossed with slow-roasted tomato, oregano, black olives and shaved parmesan, or a fresh baguette with brie, grape and radicchio. There will be a hot BBQ serving up gourmet sausages and other sizzling delights, and even a French-style creperie with a range of sweet and savoury recipes.
And to complete the sense of Mediterranean joie de vivre, the sangria will be flowing freely (non-alcoholic of course don’t forget you’ve got to drive home!). You’ll never be satisfied with flat cola and pick‘n’mix at the movies again.

Check out the links in the first post and you can see a layout of the park/ground and find out more information about other screenings etc.

HTH;)

Went to Catch Me If You Can on Saturday night. One of the VIP convertibles at the front was empty with 5 minutes to go so my 11 year old poppet - future queen of the blaggers - asked if we could have it.

So we got front row seats and a brilliant goodie bag with DVD, Film Guide, caps, etc). Is my daughter cool, or what?!?

Went to last Saturdays screening of Catch Me If You Can and it was a wonderful evening, excellent surroundings and great film.

Anyone know of any other drive in movies coming up soon, as I'd really like to go again, an don't mind paying!!

Thanks

Unfortunately Manchester is a little too far..!! :-)

Should have said, "any more drive-in movies in the SE & London area".

Btw, which MSEs were at Gunnersbury Park last Sat?

Went to Shawshank on Saturday and enjoyed it so went back to watch As Good as it Gets last night.

Saturday it didn't go dark enough until about 9:45 so film was late starting, and with the rain on Saturday there was an eerie mist around the place too, was cool!

Enjoyed both films and the staff on site were REALLY friendly washing windowscreens, chatting to everyone casually and just being nice and helpful in general!!!

Impressed!

Guilty as charged. It was indeed a brilliant night. Was also in front row, but got my screen washed anyway. As the weeks go by I guess the start times won't be as delayed as ours was, as obviously it's getting dark earlier. I did say to one of the Renault people that it would perhaps have been an idea to check out the sunset times in advance, but maybe that would have been an idea to far!! ;) Must fill in the feedback questionnaire later, with my key suggestion being, do it again but please please please, show Grease in London next time. How wicked would that be!!!!

I went to see Shawshank too. Loved it, and didn't mind it being late starting at all. They said they were having a problem with the projector focusing on the mist rather than the screen.

I was suprised there weren't more people there, only about 100 cars or so by my reckoning.

Would love to do it again too.
