If anyone hasnt seen this yet, google do an amazing interactive map/journey planner. You can type in a place or a postcode and it will take you straight there. The buttons on the left let you toggle between map, satellite, and a hybrid of the two!

click on the satellite and search using your postcode to bring up your street, and get a free birds eye view of your house!

enjoy!

That is cool! I am from Hungry and can see the town I came from, even the boating lake!

You can also use "multimap.co.uk" to do a similar thing

Another brilliant free map site is Old Maps (http://www.old-maps.co.uk/)where you can search for your address, bring up a map of your area in the 19th century, these maps are often better than modern ones. You can also view a higher resolution ariel shot, than the one offerred on multimaps.

It's very interesting to see what was where your house is today, and what was once there and now isn't. I discovered that my house was built on the site of a windmill, which, when looking at the frequent wind destruction in my front garden, makes a lot of sense.

I am tracing my family tree and on Old Maps I have found where my ancestors once lived.
