Hi - My mum is currently undergoing radiotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer back in February.

She had a lumpectomy and several nodes removed from under her arm.

She is in the final week of the 4 weeks of radiotherapy, but she is so sore now and really in quite a lot of pain.

She has been told to stop the aquerius cream, that was several days ago and to try and let air get to the area.
Thursday is the last one, I just wondered after the last one how long it might take her to heal after that.

Any advice would be apreciated

Hi!
My dad has lung cancer and in March he had 4 weeks of radiotherapy.
He used the aqueous cream as he got lots of scabs on his back and it has now all cleared up.
So i would say it didn't take too long after he had finished radiotherapy for all the sores to clear up.
Take care
:)

It's a bit difficult to predict, everyone is different. Have you looked at the BACUP website? They also run a telephone helpline and should be able to give you lots of info. Best wishes to your mum.

Hello bootman

Ive just finished a 3 week course of radiotherapy after similar procedures to your mum. Have not had the problems of soreness...just major sunburn effect alleviated by aqueous cream and pure aloe vera gel. Just wanted to say...to be prepared for the tiredness which kicked in for me after the zapping finished and which is quite debiliating. Can also highly recommed the Breast Cancer Care website and forum.

Sending very best wishes to your mum for the future and to you in supporting her http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/icons/icon7.gif
