What is it?

Moneywise magazine is the largest circulation money monthly. Alongside my normal column, the July edition includes the winner of the 'Britain's best MoneySaver' contest launched in conjunction with this site in March (see the original info (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1570426#post1570426)).

What's this freebie about?

After some negotiating I persuaded Moneywise to give 10,000 free copies away to MoneySavers, the normal cover price is £3.95. This is a total freebie, ie no need to sign up and cancel the direct debit like the normal free magazines thread (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=182314). Of course Moneywise will include details in there of cheap subscription offers for those who'd like to sign up.

AN IMPORTANT plea from me. Please read

Please don't just purely grab the freebie. If you won't read the magazine or aren't interesting in reading it (it's more hardcore money than the consumer finance stuff usual in this chat board) please leave copies for those MoneySavers who'll enjoy it. It took some tough negotiating to get the 10,000 copies.

It is the July edition of Moneywise, which is in the shops on 29 June.

Thanks for this and well done on getting 10,000 free. I think its a great idea that anyone who wants one needs to come back at a later date to get it. That way, it means it will be genuine people who really want it make the effort to do so. Keep up the good work Martin youre great. :T
P.S. I would just like to comment on your spot on GMTV this morning, its the first time ive seen you being interviewed on tv and your immense passion for what youre talking about is an inspiration to everyone. It gives people the confidence to take on the big boys and win.

The weekly emails dont come on the same day .. 1 of them always a day later . Why is that?

However the magazine has not been distributed lately (more than 2 months) as Moneywise has been supposedly bought by another company..So I reckon you will have to wait quite some time before receiving your copy...

it is done in the order you signed up for the email it takes about 24 hours for the whole run to go out, so the one you signed up with later will arrive later

I was one of the lucky ones who received a free copy last time. In true MSE spirit I sent it on to another MSE in my area at their request. My mum and a friend also wanted to read the mag so I enclosed an SAE and asked the MSE to return it when they had finished with it.

Sadly they never sent it back and I never heard from them again. I felt a bit stung. We seem to have a giving, generous network with this fourm but that left me feeling a bit deflated.

Moral of the story: if someone who gets a fee copy is kind enough to send it onto someone who hasnt, please do the decent thing and return it if they have asked.

Some people don't have the luxury of a home pc and access the net AT work or local libraries.

As the person that started this 'moan' I am very apologetic. I did not mean it as a complaint, more a suggestion, although on reflection it would not matter what time of the day or night this offer was made, someone would be at work.

I have made so many money savings since reading the weekly emails that I would not dream of complaining.

My wife and I were runners up in the moneysavers competition with our money-saving wedding!

SO I am looking forward to seeing the magazine!

Our prize was a years subscription and I'll be circulating our copy around the NE of Scotland and Aberdeenshire area so as many as possible can benefit.

When I get a chance I'll try and distill our wedding savings into a top 10 tips and post on the forum somewhere.

Thanks for the friendly and helpful response and I now consider myself duly chastised.

Some of us do not have the luxury of being able to access the internet at work for personal gain! It was only intended as a comment on life in general at the moment. My son's school treats working parents like we are scum and I am battling with a delivery company who won't leave a package but won't deliver outside their very restrictive hours but will let me collect from their depot 50 miles away! So as I said not a winge at not getting something free more about not being able to access things that happen during working hours.
