My partner has been with the RAC for a couple of years.
There was an error last year regarding her direct debit but we decided to continue the service.
This year on getting the renewal notice the price seemed very high, just over £101 then a 20% discount giving a figure of £80 odd pound.
Going on to there website, we could find nothing that matched this price, even the cover with all the bells and whistles.
The exact same service we had was available for £69.
We decided to call their helpline, a big mistake.
My partner explained we could not understand this discounted price and wanted an explanation. At first the gentleman said he did not understand the problem and then changed his mind and said to hang on. He even tried to argue his point but then realised he would not win.
Somebody else then took over but we got no where.
Without being rude, neither of these gentlemen spoke good English and there attitude was terrible.
They did admit we could always cancel and take the cheaper quote on line, for the same service as we already had.
I had the same thing with Direct Line Home Insurance this year and I saved over £70!
So we will now look elsewhere but would prefer a helpline where they speak good English and can understand us if we have a problem.
Has anybody an ideas?
Also, out of interest, do people check there renewal notices, whatever it is for or do they just either pay off the full amount via direct debit or monthly instalments blind to any increase or without checking the price to other companies or even the same company.
Thanks
Martin
