Play.com have a free World Cup screensaver for download, it's got a Play.com advert on it as you'd expect, but it looks quite nice, displays news, fixtures, results etc...

Carrying on with the World Cup Theme -

I've pre-registered at www.worldcuphotshots.com.

It's a free World Cup fantasy football competiton that has offered a £50 prize for a mini-league of one entrant. I don't think it's as complicated as some of the other free competitions and there given away prizes too(www.fifaworldcup.com - is the most well know free comp I know - but you have to big a big squad) .

I wouldn't reccommend playing any of the newspaper competitions as these games are now dominated by almost 'professional' players and you will have to be very, very lucky to win a prize. Unless you don't mind paying the entrance fee that is.

Maybe a MoneySavingExpect.com World Cup Mini-League?

If its free and its about football, I'm interested. Already a team froming in my mind: Robinson in goal, Nesta and Terry, Gerrard and Ballack, Ronaldo (Utd) and Park, Adriano and Kuryani up front. Kuryani my bet to win the golden boot even if Germany go out at the QF.
