My local Tesco has just put the price of a litre of unleaded up to 93.9p, next door the BP garage is charging 92.9p just down the road the Shell garage is charging 91.9p.

I thought that the filling stations within 5/10 miles of each other kept to the same price.

Is this just for Easter?

Expect the Shell and BP garages to up their prices too , now that Tesco have.

They often increase prices at bank holidays as they know there is lots of driving done at these periods.
Diesel is almost at the £1 per litre price.

Yet the government still keeps increasing fuel duty ( though shamefully delaying it until later in the year to avoid a public outcry)..

I went to fill at Tesco and it was 94.9, so I went home and checked out Petrolprices.com out of principle (live 200m from Tescos), found garage 2 miles away that was on my route anyway where it was listed as 91.9, got there and found it was 93.9.

Don't get me wrong, petrolprices is a great idea, but I just don't think its that helpful.

On two occasions, ive done the research and found the cheapest petrol and driven specifically to that petrol station because it was cheaper and I was filling the entire tank to discover that it was no cheaper than my local garage. Information via the site isn't updated regularly enough to be completely relied upon.

Also, Tesco has increased Petrol here twice in the last week, both times by 2p. When Tesco came into the town 18 months ago it really helped push the price of petrol down, and since then petrol in Stafford has been cheaper than the average. It just seems now Tesco is upping the prices everywhere, perhaps people just think they are the cheapest as they have been for so long ...

I went past two petrol stations today on the same road, one was 5p cheaper than the other. It's definitely worth doing a U-turn to save that much!
