I'm on the hunt for a new Mascara. I am tired of my mascara clumping up and I would really like to try out something new. Something that doesn't clump on lashes and will bring out my brown eyes :D

Maybelline Define-a-Lash. I got a freebie from a magazine subscription and have never looked back. Boots No7 360 degrees is good too.

Agree with Nordictat, I love Maybelline mascara and define a lash is probably my favourite. I don't like any brand's waterproof mascara, think they all tend to go a bit clumpy.
I also like virgin v mascara, the one that is 2 steps, can't remember the name but anyway it isn't as money saving as maybelline's but is so good for 'night out' mascara.
Have tried so many expensive brands' mascara - estee lauder, urban decay, benefit, chanel etc and always end up going back to maybelline.

There's a free Benefit 'bad girl lash' mascara with the July issue of Glamour magazine (priced £2), seems quiet good.
Sorry forgot to add that I have been using Lacura Mascara from Aldi for a few weeks and it's brilliant costs around £2.50.

I love Max Factor False Lash effect stuff BUT they seem to be one of the few companies that do black/brown colour. Being blonde hair and blue eyes black is too harsh but plain brown not quite dark enough. MF is the only one that seems to do a mix of both.

Clinique. Tried tons of others and they seem to be the best for me. Good colour, no clumping, no irritation, worth every penny to me, especially when Bonus Time comes around
Rimmel Sexy lashes is amazing! I'm sure if I put on a 3rd coat my lashes would hit my glasses....

That is a decent mascara, but the first (and only!) time I used it, it made my eyes sting really badly. I actually couldn't open my eyes at the end of the day
I love bad gal by benefit, not so keen on the shedding, but it's something I'm willing to put up with :)
Could also recommend Max Factor :)

Giorgio Armanis new one -it is the best mascara i have ever used, ur eyelashes will curl and stay without using an eyelash curler.
they gave me a free sample

Have you tried the new waterproof one yet?
I was going to buy it yesterday in House of Frazer, but I thought I would wait till Boots (& get the points), the Boots in Lakeside doesn't sell benefit:mad:
I was too tired to walk all the way back to HoF:o

I won one of these from the comps board and it arrived this morning, of course I had to try it out straight away despite having just bought a new magnascopic mascara the other day:D
It was great, I'm not a great fan of any mascara apart from magnascopic but this went on beautifully and gave me really full curly lashes:jI used three coats but two would have been fine and so far it has stayed put and no flakey bits, the original comp was for the waterproof version but it said in the letter that came with it they had run out them and instead they sent the normal version which was fine by me, I believe it retails for under £8 which is a bargain imo.

I won one too but mine came about 6weeks ago. I'm not that impressed to be honest! It's a nice mascara but I don't think it curls very well (still need the eyelash curlers) and I find it can flake towards the end of the day! I'm sticking with it for another 2months then will find a new one as I don't want to waste it!

Which is the best mascara?
I don't want waterproof, but other than that I'm open to suggestions. I just can't get one that really makes my lashes look thicker and longer as the ads promise, though I notice that most of the ads have "filmed with lash inserts" in tiny print at the bottom of the screen

Hello!
The Lancome Hypnose mascara is amazing (and can sometimes be found cheaply on ebay) but I tend to use Max Factor Masterpiece as it's more affordable. They do a 'Masterpiece Max' as well, the ordinary ones give you bushier lashes and the 'max' version gives more definition.
However, I've also heard good reports about the Urban Decay and Benefit mascaras too...
Hope you find one you like!

I find that YSL False Lash Effect can not be beaten. :) I have actually been asked if I'm wearing false eyelashes.
DiorShow is decent, but the brush is huge so application is harder. Many people rave about Benefit's Bad Gal and the various Max Factor mascaras, but these just do not work for me - especially Badgal which was pretty poor IMO.

There was a thread a few months ago, if you do a search will find it.
Also check out Cargo- from boots, its ment to make your lashes longer ( im using it and can us it on its own as mascara too)
Theres been a thread about that too if you wanted to take a look.

The shedding does bug me, but it's something I'm willing to put up with for gorgeous eyelashes :p

I love max factor max. No clumps and makes my eyelashes look really think. Had a lot of compliments about my eyes since I started using it :)

I have several favorites depending on what I am looking for:
For dark, dense lashes that are fast to apply and don't smudge or smear under heat:
DiorShow Waterproof (a pain in the ... to remove though!)
Maybelline's collosal lashes is also good for dense lashes but I tend to find the cheaper the brands, the shorter the life in them- I can get through a maybelline wand in a month, my DiorShow has lasted several months and there is still life in it!
For light even lashes that don't stand out too much (the natural look when you have blonde lashes and want them not blonde!) Lancome have a few, definicles and virtuose are good.
The new one from Chanel is also good- it does not clump- whilst not as good at extending or darkening, the no clumps thing seems to work way better then any other mascara. And the formula does not smudge, flake or smear and is fairly easy to remove. Just no "wow" look.

I love DiorShow, i've never found anything better - the brush is huge and does take a bit of getting used to. It makes my lashes look thick and full, they are a bit sparse still after sneezing when curling my eyelashes years ago, ouch! I use the waterproof version, it truly is budgeproof and can be a pain to get off!
I tried Benefit Bad Lash and didn't rate it at all. x

My fav is Estee Lauder Magnascopic, lots of volume and stays put until you take it off recently I won a Rimmel Sexy Curves which was surprising good, sometimes mascara gets on my nerves so I use eyelash extensions from eyelure instead.

I love YSL False Lash effect one but I find it goes clumpy and dry very quickly. YSL Everlong is also very good. However, I have recently tried Dior Iconic. I hated Dior Show with a passion so didnt expect to like this one but it's fantastic! Gives a really full lash effect and stays put. It comes in waterproof and non-waterproof. I have been using the non-waterproof one and find it needs a little extra effort (& more eye make up remover) to remove it at night....I imagine it might take dynamite to shift the waterproof one :D

Thanks people, lots of different opinions there.
I did do a search but it didn't bring up anything much, just posts where the word 'mascara' appeared which wasn't what I wanted. Mascara is so expensive and I've wasted enough money in the past looking for that elusive one that does just what it says in the blurb.
Thanks again for your opinions.

It's worth using an eyelash primer before applying mascara. It makes a noticeable difference to your eyelashes.

I've been wearing clinque double lash (silver tube) for years. But which ever mascara you wear you should always keep a spare clean wand and run it through your lashes after coating them, stops the clumps.
My DD swears by YSL faux cils.
I need uber waterproof, so I like Perscriptives here-to-stay & Lancomes waterproof ones.

I was at a christening yesterday and one of the other guests had really lovely seperated long lashes they were so good they looked fake, I asked her what mascara she used and she pulled out Max Factor Masterpiece Max, just thought I would pop it on here, I'll be buying some on my next shopping trip:)

My favourites are Dior Blackout, HR Lash Queen and YSL EFC. I love the WOW effect all the time and these do exactly that. :D
I've tried loads and I really think Max Factor Masterpiece is pretty unbeatable. In fact most of their mascaras are good (apart from the false lash effect one which is cr*p). They are also fairly reasonable price wise at £8 ish and often on offer. I find they lats about three months and you shouldn't keep a mascara much longer than that anyway.
Maybelline are good if you want a cheap one and lancome for the more designer end.
Clinique and No7 mascaras smudge and run really badly though.

My fave mascara is loreal volumious its only £6.99 and it's the best one I have ever used :D It makes your lashes thicker and longer.
I like diorshow as well, but it's expensive at £20 ish and I feel it only lasts for a few weeks, I've felt like there is a plug that comes away in the bottle and doesn't work as well as it used to, so I stopped buying it.

l'oreal voluminous
I endorse that one.
Yesterday I was looking at mascara reviews and found one site where the only mascara with 100% 5-star ratings was Prescriptives False Eyelashes, so I'm trying to find it cheap ;)

Not a "review site" as such - it was QVC the shopping channel. And yes, believe it or not they do post negative comments on their products! However, the mascara is out of stock :(

I buy loads of mascara and never leave the house without it. The best mascara (including premium brands) is Rimmels sexy curves. Makes your lashes curly and really volumising plus the tube lasts and doesn't dry out unlike some which look great the first 2 times you put them on but then look rubbish. Also cheap and Rimmel always seems to be on 3for 2 at either boots, tesco or superdrug. Hope that helps.

This is what I bought and it is great IMHO :D
However I don't think it wil last that long but it does build the lashes up fantastically! Theonly thing that puts me off is the price as I'm trying to downshift in brands for mascara and I might try the Max Factor one raved about in here next.
Otherwise I might return to Collection 2000 which I used to use about 3yrs ago and see what these are like these days. Still quite cheap when I had a little look in Superdr*g.

Ooooh...you've just reminded me that I used that one once and really liked it. I bought it in a Sephora in NYC and then couldn't find it again easily but I now have easy access to a Prescriptives Counter....I may have to revisit this one next time I need a new mascara :T:T:T

clinique's high impact or high definition mascara are for me.! feels really light - like i have no eye makeup on, and the high definition wand has a comb on the other side of the the brush side - but you need to get the hang of applying it.
