Those of us who post on the Fashionista's Daily will have seen that Glowgirl & Fengirl & a few others have some decidely delectable designer handbags....
Some of us haven't quite got to that point in our lives, but I was wondering who has what, who would buy one, and which specific bag would you choose?
The nearest I get to designer is a Radley body-bag, chocolate leather, birthday pressie from OH a couple of years ago. Otherwise I'm a Next / Tesco / Accessorise girl!
However, if i was in the market for a "good" everyday bag as my mum would say, it would probably be a Kenneth Cole.... and if the budget allowed then I would go for a Mulberry Roxanne in Oak.
Come on girls, spill the beans!!

Mulberry have a sale on at the moment. A friend gets previews as she saves and buys two a year.
My limit is a Radley bought 5 or 6 years ago in a sale and kept for best. Its plain black leather, not the fancy ones. I have two Kipling the good City ones with leather and brass bought in the sale for £35 each.
If money no object, Hermes Kelly.

I know they aren't to everyone's taste because there are sooo many copies but I have a classic LV Speedy. I hope that it will last a lifetime and I chose it because it is so timeless, Audrey Hepburn had one back in the sixties. I also like Mulberrys and a spanish brand called Tous do some nice bags. I also have a lovely black leather across the body bag that I use for travelling by a spanish desgner called Adolfo Dominguez which I need to get the strap repaired.

I have about 11 or 12 handbags, but the most I've ever paid is about £150. I am fickle so it's not worth spending hundreds and hundreds on a bag.
I don't like any of the designer ones much anyway. I live bags that are not too heavy, but have plenty of room for stuff in and pockets or at least a pocket on the outside so I can keep my keys/bus pass handy without having to rumamge around inside.

Mine would be a hermes birkin (ye right, not in this lifetime lol) I think a chloe paddington would be more realistic for me. I have a radley bag on ebay at the minute, and sold another one last year, i did like them but sorry if i offend anyone, i have seen too many little old (sweet) ladies with them!! I am using a chloe-esq bag at the minute, i also have a chanel-esq, but usually bags come from next/river island. I adore handbags, and have just recently read syle clinic by Paula reid and she said that a classic handbag is worth the spend. I now have a chloe paddington on my xmas list...well she did say.....

I love designer bags but I can't justify spending that amount of money on them so all I have is a gold gucci indy bag (I have been wearing this loads recently and I'm quite sick of it!), black chloe baby paddington and a gold chloe paddington. I also have a large cream guess bag and a large cream coccienelle tote which i use for my laptop although I wouldn't really call these 2 designer they are a bit pricier then average high street.
My fave handbag designer is definitely gucci, I might treat myself to another one soon as I really don't have enough bags and gucci bags are gorgeous!
I don't have very many bags really as I will only buy/wear real leather - I hate fake leather, so this limits my choice drastically when I'm shopping on the high street.

I have two Radley bags, but I love them because I love the designs of the Radley range, not because they're "designer". I don't bother with labels and things like that. :)

I totally agree about the radley bags - they are a bit of a granny bag! Sorry if I offend any radley owners (or grannys!)!!

I love handbags, they really are my weakness although i'm much more sensible these days than i used to be. At the moment I have bags by Coach, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture and Dooney & Bourke. I'm off to the States again next month and plan to treat myself to a couple of new ones:D

I have a Radley bag that I got as a birthday gift this year. Its lovely leather and I really like it, but I wouldn't have spent my own hard earned cash on it!
I love bargains, I love finding the perfect bag for my outfit in TK Maxx, or similar. I loved rooting through Century 21 in NYC and finding a gorgeous little black leather Tommy Hilfiger bag for $11. But generally, I don't care if they have a decent label or not. If I like them and the price is right then I'm happy :D

I have several Radleys that I use for work - they seem to be the badge of professionl women around here. I was the guest speaker at a seminar and there were 3 Radleys neatly stashed under the lecturn.
I have come close to buying a Mulberry - there factory outlet shop is fairly near me and the bags are made locally. However when I got close enough to a Roxanne I really just didn't like the leather. Wouldn't have bought it at £5.

I have a Vivienne Westwood 'Berkeley' and a Ted Baker 'Mali'. If money were no object I'd probably have something by Balenciaga. That said, I do also love a bargain and have picked up some crackers in the likes of Primark and TKMaxx for next to nothing.
i had 2 radley bags and a radley purse and my dog ate them all ( and i mean ate and digested!!! )

Does Radley count as designer? I've got a plain black one, very rarely use it though as it's a bit formal.
My favourite bag at the moment is an Oushka one I bought last summer - slouchy and with lots of pockets.

I have a gorgeous Jil Sander one which was my bargain of the century. I paid 35p for it just a month or so ago in a charity shop. It is gorgeous brown leather and not a mark on it. Google her bags and you'll see the prices!!
I bought some expensive leather boots last winter in almost the same shade and walked miles trying to buy a bag to match. I gave up in the end because either the colour was OK but the shape wrong etc. Then I find this beauty and I'm over the moon!!:j

I have zero interest in designer handbags. I am currently using a black and white patterned one from Sainsbury's TU range and I love it. Even better it only cost £10!!!

Very very vintage Gucci from their days before brazen glitz. Lovely red-brown leather. Simple clip on strap. About 7" by 5". Looks like nothing special. Hence it was 50p from the charity shop.
I'm nowt special but on a couple of occasions in cosmetics/luggage concessions, have been made quite a fuss of by the ladies even though there have been pretty young things with beautiful clothes looking around. Whilst I would like to think it was my magnetic personality and winning smile, I suspect they hoped I was more likely to make a purchase.

When I was over in the US visting my sister..we were out shopping one day and she saw me look at a Ed Hardy bag but when I saw the "sale" price of $75 (normally $165) I put that thing right down but I am not know for spending more than £30 on a purse...well guess what...later that night she surprised me with the bag!!! I was so surprised it just about brought tears to my eyes. I have never owned such a pricey bag (to me) but I must say..ever since I got it...I've been using it everyday heh.

I am not very keen on the Radley bags, but I have a plainish black one with small amount of pink trim but minus the dog tag. That was another charity shop bargain.
A couple of years ago I had a lovely gypsy style bag with sequins, lace etc and every time I went out someone asked where I got it and whether they could buy mine. My mate said if I didn't stop using that bag she would stop coming out with me because she was fed up hearing people discussing my bag!!
I also have a bag by Smith & Canova (fabric type, about £50ish and covered in Scottie dogs so everyone says "I love your Radley bag":eek::o A lot of women just talk to the bag !!:rotfl:
I've got two black Mulberrys, a large one for everyday use & a smaller one for not everyday.
My DD has a tan Mulberry (we bought it for her last Xmas).
I have a couple of Fiorellis & a Fiorelli beach bag (thats nice), but I never use them. I have a Fiorelli purse I love.
My DD has a couple of Fiorellis too.
DD has a nice Jasper Conran I bough her too.
She also has a brilliant fake Chloe (a real leather fake) I bought it for her in Fethyie in Turkey & its an amazing copy.
Lots of other bags too, but to be honest its the big Mulberrys that we both use 99% of the time.

I have several Bally bags as I used to work for them & got a big discount:D they are such good quality & still going strong many years later.
My OH bought my a Louis Vuitton back in the day when he was trying to impress me & I have a Fendi baguette that I bought second hand in a shop in Hong Kong about 5 years ago. It was gorgeous until a mouse got hold of it, now it wears a strategically placed brooch over the designer nibble hole!
I also have one of those check Burberry totes that I'm holding on to but will never use again as an ex-colleague referred to it as my chav bag.
Ooooh I love handbags! I wish I could afford some new ones, Hermes, Bottega Veneta, Mulberry, the lot really...........

I'm not a bag person. Last year I was given a FCUK toiletries set that came with a tshirt and a big bag but I don't understand what everyone carries around in such massive bags? I got a little one for my birthday this year which is black faux leather (I wish it was real). It's growing on me since I decided to put my reservations aside and start using it. I'll keep trying though ok!
I have 2 Lulu Guinness bags. One is a small going out bag, and the other is a large bag I use if I'm staying overnight anywhere.
I have a black Ralph Lauren bag, and I own part-shares in another.
I also have a pink Dior bag, but that's kinda trashed

If I am going out in the evening, I'll take a small bag - but I like a big bag for the daytime, I like to be able to fit a light coat or cardigan in it, or put all (or most) or my shopping in it. If it's really hot, it needs to be able to take a small bottle of water as well.

One Radley, One Lulu Guinness and one Gucci.
Radley bought in the sales by hubby, Lulu Guinness in her outlet sale by sister and Gucci given by a friend a few years ago
I adore looking at the bags in the stores but to be honest I hate to spend more then £30 on one myself. I dont treasure the bags, they get thrown in the foot well of the car, kicked under tables in resturants, stuffed full of baby stuff when the GS stays so I would hate to spend so much and feel I had to treat it with kid gloves.
The next bag I will spend on will be the Radley over body bag - so smart and such lovely leather. I have tried to convince myself that the M&S one is just as good (at half the price) but its not working - roll on christmas :D

I love bags -friend&family are all aware that I love bags &I hoard them.I'm an addict-.I do sell some of my high street bags on ebay though but have been known to regret it afterwards &then buy the same bag again.
I love river island bags &monsoon bags but can't stop myself if I see any I like in primark or matalan either-Tk maxx is getting hard to avoid too.
I also have
1 louis vuitton -My favourite at the moment
-2 small radleys for going out in with purse
1 fiorelli bag with matching purse
2 jasper conran bags
2 burberry bags-a blue version & the original "chav" version.I just can't bear to part with them-I bought them when they were popular couple of years ago
1 dior rasta bag(again don't carry anymore)
1 paul smith swirl bag
Oh treated me to a lovely pink matthew williamson bag yesterday with matching purse from debenhams.I keep all mine in plastic storage boxes &inside my wardrobe in those hanging organisers.
I would like to buy a mulberry or a marc jacobs bag this year &am currently drooling over a gorgeous pink vivienne westwood bag.

I love bags and have a massive collection of vintage leather bags but designer ones just don't interest me.
In India you can get exact copies knocked up within 24hours (in leather with very convincing lining and label) for between £15-30 and I still wouldn't touch 'em.
Suppose I hate being labelled.

One tiny Radley handbag (with matching tiny purse!) that DH bought me in TK Maxx last Christmas.
Apart from that it's usually th local market stall for me - I have to have a 'reasonably' large bag and they soon get tatty!

Well, I am feeling like the poor relation here as I have no designer bags at all!:o
I do like nice quality leather bags and my oldest one is a navy blue drawstring bag which I still regularly use after more than 8 years. But generally I buy them when they are in a sale and don't pay more than about £60. I do treat them to a polish with some saddle soap every now and then to polish them and keep them supple.
If I could justify the money I would probably choose a Lulu Guinness bag.

I've got a really good fake Chanel one that I use for work, sister in law brought it back from Egypt for me 3 years ago and it's still going strong-a lady in the doctors surgery asked me where I got it from and was enthusing about "real" designer bags as her fake had just broken :rotfl:...naturally I pretended it was real! I'm lusting after a bright pink Pauls Boutique one I saw in Selfridges but sadly I am skint!

I've got a few Mulberry bags, but I wait until the sales, and I also save up my points on Consumer Pulse for HoF vouchers before I buy.
The ones I use most at the moment are a Roxanne tote and an Effie satchel. I've got a red/multi Rio, which was hugely reduced on sale, but it has a tendency to catch things on the woven leather, and I once went out with a coat hanger attached to it, and didn't notice until I was on the metro. DH just laughed, while I was mortified!
One of my favourite bags though, is a fringed suede bag from Topshop that I bought in a charity shop for 50p.
I have a Mulberry bag that i bought for £1 from a charity shop. I didnt realise it was a designer bag untill my sister told me, and ive seen one second hand on ebay for £150! I dont normally get a bargain and this one was a fluke:rotfl:

I'm not a label-fiend so definitely not interested in the latest fashion-accessory with logos emblazoned everywhere but I do like good quality. I once bought a beautiful Liz Claiborn bucket-bag at half price in Selfridge's sale and was delighted with it until it was stolen. It was the highest price I've ever paid for a bag and I still haven't found a decent, affordable replacement for it ten years later.
I bid for and won a delightful black Coach shoulder-bag on ebay for about a tenner last year and that's my "good" going-to-interviews/posh day-time bag. The rest of the time I use a Kangol messenger-bag which I bought for a song and is perfect for my needs
Another radley fan here, bought a £130 radley bag last week and purse to match and got a free umbrella, so i was happy.

ooooo Handbags:D
I am lucky that I have a few Louis Vuitton's but I RARELY get them out now as I don't get out much being ill:rolleyes:. Used to carry them when going out to the theatre, Westend or eating out with friends etc, but just dont get the chance nowadays.
I sold my Hermes 3 years ago to a friend to pay off a chunk of debt. It had only been carried about 6 times and still had the original box, bags and tags. It was bought as a pressy for me a few years back and I thought I would miss it, but I don't.
My everyday bag is a brown across the shoulder strap Radley and I have the same in black and green. The brown one (reduced from £120 to £75) was bought from JL with vouchers from friends and family over a year ago and the black one was bought from Debenhams in the sale for £50 (reduced from £120) by OH 2 years ago. The green one was bought at the Tula outlet in Ashford (1 yr ago) for £24:j:j:j... (reduced from £120)DD pinches that one all the time. They are a great size and are like new. I also have a large Radley holdall in a red orange and this was from the same outlet reduced from £299 to £69. Used when we go away for the night or hospital:D
I am seriously considering selling 2 of the LV's and just keep the 2 I do use if I go out. They are like new and still ahve the dusters, so should get some good money for them.
Anyone know where is good as I wont sell on Ebay? I still have the receipts.

I have a chocolate leather Juicy Couture that I got on sale in the US in Feb, a couple of Guess bags - one large leopardy grab bag and one beige/brown shoulder bag from different trips to the US last year and last month - would never pay UK prices -, a small black DKNY that I've had for about 5 years and a Marc Jacobs clutch (from his diffusion range so was only $30USD but it's still MJ so I love it!!).....Right now I'm lusting after a Mulberry Roxanne tote, but at £300 in the sale it's still just too much.......don't think I could live with the guilt if I bought it!! :o Although I am thinking of Ebaying my others to fund it!!!

I desperately want a D&G handbag.. they had them on vivaladiva.com when I first took out my account with them but by the time my credit limit was high enough to buy one they had stopped doing them!!!! Maybe just as well ha ha. Thats the only designer handbag I really want though...
I have a small dark brown Radley that my mum bought me a couple of Xmas's ago but I dont use it much because Im paranoid about losing it, and a tan and green largish cross body Radley that mum bought me last Xmas and is absolutely invaluable when I go away, as it has a long slim zip pocket at the front ideal to keep tickets in, and lots of zipped pockets inside that I use for purse, phone etc. I also have a Ciccia purse (Im told that its made by the same people that make Radley) which is fab - have had it nearly a year now and it still looks new, but I had a Radley purse and it didnt last me five minutes

I prefer smaller designers. My mother has a few Mulberry bags, but personally, I don't feel the same towards Mulberry since it was no longer under the Saul's control and was bought out: the bags seem ''over branded'' to me and the clothes seem of a much lower quality, but I do think some of the bags are still lovely, just...not for me. My smartest black bag is Osprey, (an 18th birthday gift) and I hve another designer black bag, less ...smart and restrained though.
I was away last week and had to choose one bag to last me through several outfits and travels, and I chose a big slochy one my sister made years ago (maybe 35 years ago!) and which I have since died and repaired several times. Its slouchy and comfortable, and no designer could replace it!

I just received my new Mulberry Roxanne bag today and I can safely say that I've never seen anytging so beautiful. I'm in love...with a handbag...
It's black patent canvas with leather straps and it's covered in buckles - so beautiful. The leather smells AMAZING!
Greatly reduced in the Mulberry sale I hasten to add!
I'm off to just go and stare at it for a bit longer...

I don't own a designer handbag - my little cheapy brown leather bag is enough for me! Designer bags always seem to be really small or really big, and if I had a big bag I think it would just encourage me to fill it with unneccessary junk...
That said though I would love to own a Radley or Marc Jacobs bag one day, but I think the latter is because I am a magpie for Marc Jacobs stuff, to the extent that I have gone into Selfridges to look at shoes, gone "Ooh that's nice!" and it's been a Marc Jacobs one! *may need help*

One of my favourite topics - handbags! I never thought I'd find a thread like this on this site though and thought posters ooh-ing and ah-ing over expensive bags would get flamed!
Every bag I own is designer except for two - one a pretty sparkly 'miniaudiere' I got on ebay for £15 (from Hong-Kong) and the other was an H&M birthday present.
My most used bag is a black Coach bucket bag with patent trim and four little buckles on the straps. Its v classy and I got a matching wallet as well as a black circular Coach coin purse. I got all three for a total of about $300 in a thanksgiving sale in Virginia.
My favourite is a black Fendi baguette bag puchased about five years ago for about $270.
My most expensive is a Brown Gucci crescent shaped bag purchased for $530. I love the heavy gold hardware on this one.
I wouldnt buy another designer bag anytime soon as I now have kids and other priorities (and bigger bills as I now have a mortgage etc!) but I'm glad I got those when I did cos they all look almost good as new due to the quality. It was money well spent :-)

Designer bags are my downfall, but I do have the odd stock check. Anya Hindmarch is my favourite as I at least try to keep it British, but I do also have Gucci and LV, oh and Paul Smith. I started to sell them off on Ebay but got fed up with people asking if they were real and then offering totally ridiculous sums of money.
They're all packed in their dust bags and I'm waiting for the vintage to really kick in. My normal bag is a Mulberry Bayswater, boy can that bag carry a lot of books!

I'm defo more of a bag than shoe person if i'm going to splash out.
Ive got a lovely one from new york last year. Couple of DKNY, guess and a Louis vuitton one a bought last year as a birthday present to myself ha. Saving up to buy a Chanel bag in the states later this year. I concider the big designer ones as an investment.

I love bags and shoes. However I cannot and will not pay those ridiculous designer price tags. I very carefully select good quality bags that will last and not ones that are cheap and nasty and fall apart within a few weeks.I am happy to pay more for a bag that is good quality and not just because of a designer label. I think that Radley and also Jane Shilton's ranges are excellent examples of quality bags.

I'm not fond of the current trend for large, garishly-coloured bags with lots of metal on them. How did it become fashionable to look so very trashy? I work with a couple of women who appear to have extensive hand-bag wardrobes but I suspect those LV and Gucci bags are fake, fake, fake. I really don't get it. Under all the glitz, those girls own nothing of value at all, bar bags, shoes and clothes. Mad.

I have the real thing, not fakes and do own things of more value than shoes and bags, maybe they do to try not to tar everyone with the same brush. We all like different things in life and it is nice to treat yourself now and then.

I just cracked - now the proud owner of a Mulberry "Mabel" in a sort of burnt orange colour :j. Even more pleased that I paid less than half price for it and a lot less than the one currently for sale on eBay.

I'm a bit of a handbag-aholic and I love the quality of vintage, classic bags.
My best buy was a huge Jaeger quilted bag with chain handles - £3 from a charity shop.
I also got a conker leather Furla shoulder bag at a car boot recently for 50p!
I couldn't morally spend hundreds or even thousands on new designer bags even if I had the money!

Do Suzy Smith bags count as designer? If so I've got four of those which I love to bits, plus a Fiorelli bag (had a Fiorelli wallet that I bought in John Lewis and it fell to pieces after just 4 years  My Mum has a Fiorelli wallet that is nearly as old as me and I'm 30, so I would have liked mine to last a bit longer!)

I have a Fossil bag which I absolutely adore - it's soft tan leather and is a satchel style with a plaited strap. My mum bought me it when I started my new job a few months ago, it cost £120 and is the most expensive bag I own.
I admire designer bags and would like to own a Chanel someday, but at the moment I'm not really fussed. Would love a pair of Louboutins though... :)

I'm definately a designer bag addict. My collection consists of, not sure of the style names, I get them if I like the look lol
Chanel
Fendi satchel type
2 Louis Vuitton - one is a day and the other is an evening bag
2 Gucci - last one I got was Friday at a charity shop, I have a sneaky feeling that they thought it was just a copy hence it being cheapish. I've double checked it when I was in London yesterday and it is genuine :D

I have a small Paul Smith bag and I want the small Paul Smith Violet style bag but cannot afford it :(
I bought a Smith and Canova bag yesterday for £10 at a craft market. It's not what I class as designer, but retails for £79 and is lovely red leather with electric blue lining.

I'm so guilty of designer handbag fetish and have quite a collection from Chanel, Gucci, Mulberry, Chloe and Vivienne Westwood. I tend to buy one handbag a year and my friends think i'm mad. However, they go to Primark, River Island etc and spend £30 or £40 a month on a different bag so I've come to the conclusion taht I spend about the same as everyone else just in one lump sum ( well this is how I sell it to myself without guilt);)

Gotta admit, I'm more of a shoe girl - got near to 500 pairs, most of those Irregular Choice...but I have got my Radley signature grab bag, bought by an ex a few Xmas's ago - the blue with the snowy reindeer scene on, so I can only rly use it in December time..I do like the signatures, but can't stand the granny-ness of their regular ranges, and they are becoming a bit too standard for my liking, may save up for some of the vintage ltd ed. picture ones tho..

Can honestly say i dont do designer clothes or shoes, topshop & primark do me fine ;) but when it comes to bags...! I like to think buying a nice bag which ill use lots is always worth it :D. My first was a DKNY across the body one, i still remember going to frasers to chose it. My mum bought me it for getting good exam results & it comes with me every night out i go on . Have 2 Radley purses, never had a bag though. Have 3 Pauls Boutique Bags, dunno if these count but i cant go to london without buying one. Bag im using at the mo is a turqoise david jones one, dont think its very designer but got it in a cute wee boutique in Cyprus & i love it :D. Also have 2 marc jacobs, one of which came from TK Maxx, & a Suzy Smith Purse. Would quite like a chloe bag or some gucci, maybe a fendi or 2...im sure if you said i could have one i would be in Londons Selfridges for hours choosing !
Some people dont get it, but personally i always feel good with a nice bag on my arm
