My neighbours just came round to tell me!
They have all had the tamiful injection & I'm wondering whether I should tell my employers I ve been in contact with someone with swine flu??
Maybe I am overeacting but I work with children so dont want to unknowingly pass it on
Help /advice pls

Hi there,
Have you any contact with your neighbour (the one with the flu) in the last few days? If not then I wouldn't worry. If you have then I would probably phone your boss and let them know. If I was your boss I wouldn't be concerned but you never know how people may react to these things so I'd let them make the decision. If it involves other people's children they would probably want to err on the side of caution.

What would you do if your next door neighbour had a bad cold?
Swine flu isn't much different!
Swine flu doesn't usually affect children or over 60's. It is people in their 20's, 30's and 40's that are more likely to get it. (I know there was a baby in America, but this is the NHS general guideline.) I think tell your employer, hope they panic and enjoy your time off! If you do have flu like symptoms, ring your dr asap to get the tamiflu as it needs to be within the first 48 hours to be effective - it reduces the illness and how contagious you are - and the symptoms are just the same as normal flu. Don't go down there as surgery's have signs asking people not to go in if they think they may have swine flu. If there is anyone in the house with health problems, even asthma, make sure you call a dr if they seem to have flu.
Make a nice lasagne/ cake/ pie and pop it round to your neighbour, just leave it on the doorstep and then ring them and ask if there is anything else like milk or loo roll they are running short on.

What a really lovely thing to think about. :T

Cheers well I'm in my 20s so suppose at risk and yes neighbours were round here the day before yesterday!! I think I will ring my boss to see what he says!!
Best to contact NHS Direct, they have a special department to deal with situations just like this.

When I came back from Spain four weeks ago I had the worst flu ever. Was in bed for 3 days and could not have cared less if the house burnt down around me. OH rang NHS direct as we were convinced this was not just seasonal flu. Their reply was that if I had not been to Mexico or New York, it was probably not swine flu. Most cases are not severe and most recover in a few days. Unles you have any underlying health problems I wouldn't worry too much!
