Hello,

I NEED your help, the deodorant I have used for years (Mitchum roll on) has stopped working, I am paranoid about being a stinkypoo:rolleyes: and wondered what you use and if you would recommend it.

Thank you

Dove Go Fresh is awesome, really moisturising and doesn't make me sweaty or stinky. Plus it comes in nice smells (grapefruit and lemongrass, cucumber and green tea, and lily and watermint) and is often on 2 for £2.50 or other cheapo deals in Boots.

Personally I don't find any of them really work :( sorry, at least not in this weather. The only thing I find really helps is to wear clothes that are loosely cut under the arm if that's any help...

Second the Dove, I changed to it last year after I found the right guard no longer worked. Takes a while to get used to the very strong fresh smell but works for me

I dabbled with Driclor but didn't get on with it... red stinging rings under my armpits every morning!

I picked up (new?) Dove maximum protection the other day and I'm giving it a whirl. There's also a Sure equivalent. I think the claim is 48 hours dryness. Slight exaggeration, I'm finding, but the stuff's ok.

I've thrown a ton of money at Sure over the years and never been happy with their standard antiperspirants  I must be stupid or something.

I agree about loose cuts under the arm - can I find tops that stay like this after they've been through the wash? Can I hell!

I have recently started using Sure for women. It says its 'body responsive' and it really is! If I start to get a little too warm I get a waft of the deodorant.
Hubby has sworn by the mens version for years but I only bought it to try as my usual deodorant was unavailable at the time and the Sure was on offer. Sure is also better than my old one because its an anti perspirant where my other one was just a nice smelling spray really.
I'm really pleased with it.

I use Bionsen, which is not an antiperspirant, but a deodorant, with green credentials (all natural japanese salts, apparently). I have tried the spray one and I am now on the roll-on version, which I find works much better. It works very well for me and last aeons. My only problem is tight t-shirts under the arms, but is the fabric of the T-shirts that ends up smelling after a long day at work in the boling office, not me. I highly reccommend it!

I am a Mitchum girl, although I too have noticed it not working so well recently. I wonder if they have changed the ingredients?
OH wears Dove (dark blue one) and I've tried it and seems to work really well, better than Mitchum. The only problem is that I am allergic to every deoderant I have tried (except Mitchum) but it takes a few days for the itchy rash (nice) to appear with Dove. (OH has no problems with it, its just freaky old me!)
Have tried Driclor too -didn't get on with it at all! Horrible itchy mess within hours.

I usually use palmolive soft & gentle BUT for example when i am in Spain...I tend to use Speed Stick (my husbands) because it seems to work WELL in HOT conditions such as Spain.

I have noticed that my Mitchum roll on is not working latley too. I think they must have changed the formula going by what others are saying.

When Mitchum had an online voucher offer that I combined with a boots price promotion  I stocked up on loads of tins of Mitchum.
Miss Twit & I are working our way through the ladies ones.....so I've pinched a tin of the mens off OH ;)
It does seem to be working well and doesn't smell manly :D

I use the Adidas for Women Action 3 Intensive (orange lid) I work in a hot hospital ward, in a nylon uniform, so I sweat absolute buckets and its the only one I've found that a) Im not horribly allergic to, b) actually works, and c) is still on at the end of the day.
Only downside is that its expensive but I've discovered you can get it in my local Poundland!!! I tried Sure last month as it was on offer and I found I had to reapply it in the middle of the day as it wasnt working... needless to say when I do my monthly stock-up tomorrow will be buying Adidas again!

Mrs_Ryan, I've noticed that my local Poundland doesn't always get the same stock in.

I would stock up if you can, rather than be disappointed ;)
Also keep an eye on Boots, they sometimes have offers and you can get the points.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I bought some of the Dove go fresh last night from my 24 hour asda, wore it today, pretty clammy day weather wise, hectic and stressful day at work and then shopping with the kids and husband (honestly I don’t know who complains more!)

Verdict – still feeling fresh and dry! :j

Thank you ladies

And yet another Mitchum girl who will be trying dove, maybe if we all head off to dove and Mitchums sales drop they will bring back the old version that does actually work!

I've found deodrant to be like shampoo - for a month or two it works great, then your hair or odur go back to being horrible. For that reason I change my deodrant ever couple of months, it seems to work for me (I hope!)

another vote for mitchum stopping working, i stocked up on lots when they were on offer a long time ago but forgot to take one into hospital, asked OH to pick one up for me, he bought one (even though they were in the cupboard?) and it doesnt work as well as the ones i stocked up on! it doesnt say anything about a new formula or anything though  just doesnt say 48 hours any more.

might try the sure maximum stuff - i dont really trust "normal" deoderants, especially not in this weather

I use a rock crystal. OK it doesn't stop you sweating but it does stop the smell. You just wet the crystal, rub it on under your arms and let it dry. The minerals in the crystal rub off onto your skin and prevent the bacteria feeding or what ever it is that they do to make your sweat smell of BO.

Talcum powder is really really good for keeping you dry-load of talc under the pits, then Dove stick, then a bit of Sure on top seems to work for me! Agree about the Mitchum not working-it used to be so good as well. Another one who couldn't get on with Driclor-the burning was horrendous!

thank you wat!

I go to three different Poundlands in the area (just depends where I am) but I havent had any problems getting it yet. i always stock up at the end of the month (payday) anyway, but if not it just means I have to pay full price (boo!)

Home Bargains stock Adidas for Women, and I think it was the one you mentioned, I know the ones I bought had orange lids. I'm sure it was under £1 but can't remember how much.

For me, it was the other way round, I find Sure is the only one that really works for me. Hubby decided to pinch my Adidas and it brought him out in the most horrific rash I've seen, his skin is still slightly marked a few months on, but I had no problems at all.

I think wearing the same product all the time can diminish the anti-perspirant effect and for that reason I never wear the same product in the winter as in the summer. For winter where keeping wetness at bay often isn't that necessary for me I use whatever Asda, Superdrug or the supermarket has on offer and then in the summer I switch back to my beloved Mitcham unscented and I haven't noticed that the formulation isn't working as well as before as others have found.

I double up. I like sure but you could try this with a cheaper brand. use a roll on, let it dry then use a spray as a "second coat". this works for me.

also, try chaging your soap. I found that when I used cheap soap or highly perfumed soap then the deodorant wouldn't work. I use imperial leather, not the chapest but I buy it in bulk when its on offer and it lasts until it has all been used, unlike other soap which I end up throwing half away as it goes nasty, slimy and falls apart.
