Insuring against excess for motorhome hire

I am hiring a motorhome for a week and the hire company's terms state the insurance excess is £1250!
I have looked online for companies offering to insure against excesses but they all seem to specifically exclude motorhomes.
Anyone managed to do this?

Have you tried contacting the hire comp to see if there is a waiver you can pay?
