I've washed my car keys

and now it won't open the car !

Is it a case of getting a new one or do I simply have to replace the batteries in it?

Leave them to dry out on a sunny window ledge somewhere or in the airing cupboard...?

put it in a tub of rice for a couples of days and try again

Get a knife or screwdriver and whilst holding the key fob in your hand, use force to try and open it and remove the battery.
Once open, dry all you can and leave open overnight (somewhere warm perhaps) to dry out.
You'll probably draw blood, but it'll help prevent washing the keys again.

Some of them can lose their coding if you take the battery out for more than a few minutes
