Because of this graph http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/commodities/143908/three_month.stm
Oil price has gone up nearly 50% in 3 months
Although we have been slightly insulated from it by this graph
http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/currency/11/12/three_month.stm
And of course Darling has had his 2 pence.

But that's still not that much. It came down $100 a barrel, and petrol dropped about 30p a litre. It goes up $20 and petrol jumps 20p a litre, almost. And the exchange rate is moving in our favour. It's just profiteering from the oil companies.
They say what goes up, must come down - unless it's fuel prices.

I dont think many people actually realise what the anti terror laws cover. Blockading oil refinerys is one of them I believe.

Oil prices rise, so too does the £ to $ so it should be too unstable. Fingers crossed anyway. £ is looking stronger against $ and € :-)

If you don't like it, you're welcome to leave the country.
You could join me here if you like, where unleaded is only €1.33

Have you noticed how it goes up 18p a gallon, but when it comes down it's only by 4p a litre?

We need to get our arses in gear in this country and invest now in our own power supplies so we aren't relying on dodgy overseas countries or affected by increased demand from around the world.
I'd quite happily pay a couple of pence tax specifically for this purpose. Obviously it would take time to set up but by the time is, battery technology/electric cars should have come on so much to be a decent alternative to petrol!
I'm getting fed up of every time I drive passed a petrol station seeing that the price has gone up.

You have to take care with the way oil works- the oil price is just one factor in many.
Look at Diesel for example. The garage near me is 96.9 for Petrol and 99.9 for Diesel. This 3p gap is way down from the 9-12p just back in last year. So why is the diesel price not rising. Two fold really- you have the demand for diesel falling back with it being summer, and also since the UK doesn't have as much diesel production we import from the continent in € from $ prices (d'oh) however this has dropped off somewhat as shipping costs have fallen.
Oil companies make money at the production not at the retail, so thus naturally any increases there are going to pass into the system quickly to us, at the retail rate, but there is no incentive vice versa!
The price of fuel is massively complex and the exchange rate has only just started to move in our favour, and I read elsewhere if you isolate the two, your still looking at a net increase in cost of around 10%, which a substantial cost. Plus you have the increases in the cost of duty.

Petrol, bread, butter and everything else we use in everyday life goes up. Meanwhile beer goes down.
You can't afford to feed the kids or get to work but never mind, you can buy 20 cans of beer for a tenner.

As long as I've got beer the rest can wait.
However, most didn't notice 12 packs became 10 packs and 24 packs became 20 packs, 18 months ago. The !!!!!!! brewery!

Trouble with this is we're selling all the nuclear to the French (they'll be building and running the power stations), so we still wont control it.

Nor that the cans changed from a pint at 564ml to 500ml.
