Arnold Clarke are advertising brand new Vauxhall Zafira under the scrappage scheme.
http://www.arnoldclark.com/scrappage/vauxhall.html

When I contacted them via the internet they said the cars are brand new unregistered vehicles. When my local dealer contacted me I was told the cars on offer are pre registered in March and therefore not new. These cars do not qualify for the government scrappage scheme. Their advertising clearly states that the cars a brand new which is at the least misleading if not a out and out lie.

There is always a debate about what is a new car, which all I say is buyer beware.

However that advert says use the the scrappage scheme to get those prices so when you rang can you get a Zafira for £8995? if not report to the advertising standards.

Well then surely you win. If they don't qualify then surely you just pay the price quoted and in worst case scenario you deliver your banger to them (with luck you get to keep that too).

Or is that all wishful thinking?

my dad spoke to them the other day regarding thiscar and bloke said they were ordered in march and ready for first registration, part of a large order hence the deal is ok well so they say . in my opinion a good budget car for the money but in the sun a week or so ago ken gibson was saying these were £7999 but i couldnt find that deal mind you cant find half of his deals.... and no replys to emails either.....also looked for a sports astra for my boy, and buyacar were cheaper by £700 brand new but not scrappage scheme

The trouble with internet prices is they can't be guaranteed or have any legal claim against them. So they could advertise a brand new Zaffy for 6995 if they wanted to, but there is nothing that can be done.

Where as if it was in the paper, ie printed press then you could jolly well make sure they stood by their deal...!

Wishful thinking I'm afraid. The price quoted is after the apparent scrappage allowance for your car. In reality the price is £9388.00 plus road tax after allowance as they apparently only have metallic colours available. The main point is they are advertising cars as brand new and qualifying for the scrappage scheme when this is clearly untrue, how can a previously registered car be sold as brand new and use a scrappage scheme which states the car must be first registered in the scrap car owners name?

Went for a test drive in the new Toyota IQ , Loved it .
I have a v reg Ka which i thought qualified no probs.
When they checked my car for eligibility for the scrappage scheme i missed out by one day !!!!
My car was registered on 1.9.99 .To qualify had to be registered before 31.8.99 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas how to get round this ? I know i can get a micra as the scrappage scheme on nissan is for cars 8 yrs or older but i would like the IQ now i have driven it and the road tax is nil !!

The garage aren't shifting on the price .

thanks

Ohhh.....so unlucky. Obviously they have to have a cut off date and you are just the wrong side of it.

Have you checked with the likes of drivethedeal? The other oint to remember is with a bit of luck the value of your car old should have risen very slightly (competing ones going to scrap).

Out of interest what price have they quoted you and what is the book on the road price?

What Car target price is only £200 - £300 below the OTR price so you are goin to struggle.
