I have rosacea and I find an alcohol free diet and the simplest skin care and cosmetics the way forward for me.

I was put on long term antibiotics but I stopped after a month because they upset my tum and Im always wary about taking antibiotics.

I dont use anything that has alcohol in it on my face at all

If you do a search on this board you will find a good few threads about rosacea and a threads about natural skin care and cosmetics.

My personal regime is the Oil cleanse method for cleansing. Avon's botanical moisturiser (not totally pure but it doesnt irritate my skin) an mineral make up (Elemental beauty healing foundation as its allotonion rich which is very calming and soothing for sore skin)

I also use other oils such as Vit E and Ylang ylang - depending on what my skin is doing that day.

Pretty much ditto the above. Except I love my allantoin comfrey ointment at night (it calms) and use Liz Earle moisturiser during the day. I think it was the mineral make up, healing one, that REALLY put my skin right! It wasn't over night - but it wasn't that long.

I have mild roseaca, its the spots I have to be careful which brands of skincare I use.

There is a brand called Mir, I cannot do links but google it. A company called coolessentials sells the range. It is one of the most gentle ranges ever, I swear by their argan oil. They do Try Me Kits for around £14, which helps you pick which items your really like. Make sure you use a sunblock every day too.

DO NOT USE TEA TREE OIL ON ROSEACA!!!!!

People get confused because it used to be called acne rosecea and so people used spot treatments etc on it. But it is caused by sensitive skin, so you need to be very gentle and Tea Tree is antiseptic and not for sensitive skin.

Roseaca is usually called the curse of the Irish/Scots as they have very fair skin. I really think it is to do with hormones more than anything.

Sorry - and you're right about the name - it was a condition called acne roseacea that i read about (it's in one of the first Tisserand aromatherapy books).
I'll delete the earlier post in case anyone tries it.

Viridian comfrey ointment - I've recommended it on a thread on here before - I have to go to bed soon as have to get up early for work so not have time to get you a link - bought it via discount vitamins (I think). Good site good price.

My friend with rosacea swears by Liz Earle products, they are quite pricey though.

Hi could anyone advise me of a suncream/block for face with rosacea as when I use suncream I only get spots around my nose.

Thanks

I saw one recommended by a derm for people with roseaca. Sunsense 50+. Its an Ozzie brand and oil free. I have found it online for £8-9 at the cheapest. I am using Elemis sunblock at the moment so want to finish it first. Its a sunblock you need for the face. Suncream is greasy and can break you out.

I prefer to use the sunscreen in my moisturiser (avon botanics spf 20) and my foundation (mineral with a SPF of 25). Being a mineral it doesnt need reapplying and so lasts the day

i'm actually off to my doctor about this problem myself, so it's useful to read this thread. Main tings i have heard so far are sun block and avoid alcohol;/spicy foods

You do realize that the 20 in the moisturiser and the 25 in the foundation do not add up together? So you only get protection from one the last one one, not 45 altogether.

well aware thankyou and seeing as I live in the far North - A SPF of 25 is enough. The 20 is plenty as well for the early morning dog walks with no make up on :D
